@BrianNiemeier Final Fantasy 7 became "Shipper Fantasy 7" and thus the creators had to sail those ships.

@whjohnstonslo That would have been cool. So would taking a real risk and making Sephiroth a figment of Cloud's imagination he blames his own sins on.

Jeeves (may he rest in peace) was the product of a very different cultural, technological and demographic era. Anachronistic as he might seem today (and minor though he turned out to be in the story of the internet), the trope of the omniscient English butler was, for a few years, a successful addition to an American search engine, and, in some ways, a manifestation of British "soft power". When Ask Jeeves was launched, in 1996, Britain had a bigger GDP than China and India put together; had hundreds of hereditary peers; and could count a higher percentage of Americans among its diaspora. Wodehouse had died less than a generation ago, and digital services, which were yet to be truly globalised, were still in a period of playful non-optimisation. Today, Jeeves would be a nonsensical addition to the branding of an LLM. The cultural trope of the omniscient English butler still exists, but has lost its potency. Farewell, Jeeves: we shall not look upon his like again.

Quick question: how many gambling web sites are there for various sporting activities? How are the bank accounts of the gambling sports fans? Additionally: why do so many gambling website commercials run gambling addiction information at the end of the commercials? Asking for millions of friends.
The New Yorker@NewYorker

For the most devoted fans, Disney has engineered an ecosystem of financial entanglement that goes far deeper than park tickets or merchandise, which keeps the magic—and the debt—perpetually compounding. In 2023, Ashley, a freshman at Quinnipiac University, in Connecticut, had $15,000 in her bank account. Excited by her newfound freedom as a college student, she decided to start going on solo trips. Walt Disney World, in Orlando, Florida, seemed like an obvious choice. She went during her winter break. Then she returned, six times, in two years. Soon enough, her account balance had dwindled to just five dollars. Perhaps unsurprisingly, many adults who have accumulated Disney debt seem to be chasing a feeling from their childhoods. One woman, who has been to Disney World more than a hundred times, said that visiting the parks takes her back to a time when she had fewer worries: “It’s the nostalgic feeling of what brought you joy when you were little and you didn’t have the stressors of adult life.” Read more about the Disney adults putting themselves in debt for the pursuit of magic: newyorkermag.visitlink.me/_JqtFg

@ToIkienverse I will never understand the Disneyesque/Lucasesque decision to go pure CGI by Jackson. Nor splitting it into 3 movies.

@SchulMozart I thought a remake was interesting. I wanted to explore more of the history and locations. I didn't realize that a whole game of just Midgar would be so...underwhelming. I stopped after that. I prefer the original.

@Parkeology Every iteration of this interaction always excludes an extremely important factor: John Adams. Adams was crucial to drafts of the Declaration. For whatever reason, the Jefferson and Franklin interaction is more universally portrayed.

In 1982, everything about EPCOT felt new, advanced, and exciting. Ben Franklin actually walking is a perfect example. Back then, The American Adventure was a premier attraction, maybe even THE premier attraction. Today, some visitors don’t even know it exists, so what happened?

@NathanTheAuthor What is the punk in Nasapunk exactly? What is punk about it? I listened to a description through @patriciantv 's video on Starfield and I tend to agree with him. The word's just something made up by Bethesda to shine up something without any substance. I could be wrong though.

@TastingHistory1 I just love that you are still doing this great work with all the charm and focus you had from the beginning. Do you plan to go to locations to try authentic cuisine that maintains the history too? Branching off into other sorts of cooking? (Not that you need to.)
