For over a decade I've been using a "~/tmp/today" directory to throw semi-temporary stuff into - finally moved it into a separate repo so others can easily use it too: github.com/whot/tmp-today Very much a productivity tool.

Turns out rsync won't complain if you (effectively) run $PWD localhost:$PWD. I was glad I had snapper run hourly on my btrfs volume. If you don't, set that up now, it may save you quite some frustration.

TIL about \K in perl regex which is "throw away bits matched so far". e.g. `grep --only-matching --perl-regexp "BuildRequires: \K.*" *.spec | xargs dnf install -y` to install all packages from a specfile. No extra sed required.

@bjoernhassler X server will never use those. It's a lot of effort for little gain and no-one has the time to spend that effort.

@bjoernhassler 20y ago or so xkbdata was renamed to xkeyboard-config but the debian package kept the old name (I think)

libinput 1.20.1 is out with a fix for CVE-2022-1215, a format string vulnerability in the device logging code. 1.19.4 and 1.18.2 are out too, for the same reason. And remember, you get bonus points for keeping your system up-to-date!

@jimmac @osslate @acruiz Agreed, with my driver maintainer helmet on, save yourself the hassle and get a Wacom, it'll work out of the box. All others are hit-and-miss thanks to things like re-using USB-IDs, odd firmware emulations, etc.

@osslate @acruiz If you plan to use it under linux, Wacom is a wacom. Right now I have the xp-pen artist 12 2nd gen just collecting dust. Such a nice form factor and display, but #shittydrivers
