People see this post, don’t read a single reply, and think i’m saying “Don’t prioritize defense.” I want the team to avoid panic picking a substantially worse player. This isn’t rocket science. Picking Jeremiyah Love requires the Bengals to actually utilize FA correctly tho.

Jeremiyah Love should 1000% be on the table for the #Bengals in the first round of the NFL Draft. At the end of the day, this team needs elite players. I’d argue if Caleb Downs is off the board, Love would be the best player available. He makes the team better. That matters.

@benga1scentre Pretty hard to be a Bengals fan and try to get any relevant information on what they could do when every single front office and staff member is PR trained to deflect or lie. It’s essentially just reading in between the lines and hoping you get lucky.

@Ryan_D2TF I know Domani is coming off a pretty bad year at Bama, but was quite good the year prior. Not a perfect prospect by any means, but I actually think that’s a great swing to take in round 7 in this scenario. Just bank on the athleticism and hope for the best.

Ponds is Hilton, if Hilton was an elite athlete and could cover. Guy is physical, would be awesome in the slot. Is he small, yes, but he competes his butt off and his character/intangibles are what you want. I’ve got a 21 year old Ponds over Scott and it’s not particularly close.

Keionte Scott is the best “Mike Hilton replacement” in this draft, in my opinion. Will be 25 as a rookie, but I think his willingness to tackle and physicality really match that Mike Hilton mold.

@DDMeritt I’d agree, there’s definitely coverage question marks, but I think fans almost look at Ponds like the Hilton replacement, when I don’t think the skillset is nearly the same. I think Scott fits that exact mold much more than Ponds does.

@whodeyupdates I don’t love Scott unless you are going to use him how you used Hilton late in his career. The coverage just isn’t there. Maybe if he moved to safety, but at 25, there are other prospects I would prefer.

You’d then be crossing off countless very good players In long-term negotiations, it might matter, but on their rookie contracts, it shouldn’t matter. Draft them.

@CoachMinich Hill Jr. is represented by agent David Mulugheta. I know they drafted Barrett Carter last year and he’s a Mulugheta guy. But I think they still try and stay away from his guys early in the draft. I think we can scratch off Hill Jr. and Terrell from this draft class.
