Protect your horses!  Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) and West Nile Virus (WNV) are potentially fatal diseases of horses transmitted by mosquitoes. DATCP encourages horse owners to work with their veterinarians to vaccinate their horses against these viruses.

The Wisconsin Farm Center is available to assist farmers with mediation, financial analysis and emotional stress. Contact the Wisconsin Farm Center at datcp.wi.govor 800-942-2474.

DATCP is encouraging producers impacted by the winter storm to contact the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency (FSA). Producers should report damage and losses to their local county FSA office, which can be found online.

Over the course of the next two years, these recipients will conduct studies focused on refining and enhancing the understanding of methods that optimize commercial nitrogen applied to agricultural fields, which will further help to protect our state’s soil and water resources.
