@pHequals7 ECE I guess? Kinda straddles the EECS category. Might be good considering current trends. But would still recommend going for best college which can provide most exposure.

The world seems more confusing and daunting to an Indian class 12 student planning to take up engineering at a generic college What would be your advice to such a person who > is not sure which branch to pick > wants to maximize optionality

@ayushisri16 They are setting up the Young Avengers. Possibly in phase 6 unless the kids start aging.

Why have kids suddenly become so central in the recent Marvel movies' stories? Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Ant Man Quantumania. It's the same trope of a special kid with an Avenger and their sidekicks.

Pub quizzes are a lot like modern society. The people in charge of affairs are okay with ignoring the frauds of rich people as long as "everyone is having a good time".

@oftheCrossways More than consumption, art is termed 'art' as long as the power to make it remains concentrated with the few who have historically had the means to do so. The instant democratization happens, it dilutes the 'value' of that art, if some people are to be believed.

-that content consumed by the 'masses' is somehow not 'real art'. Who gets to decide what is real art and what isn't? And why do we assume that Cannes/MET Gala are about art- they've always been about glamour! nydailynews.com/entertainment/…

to think of it: why do we assume film actors deserve more 'recognition' than influencers? do they necessarily do better work? no. Is it always more difficult to work in films than to build an audience on social media? no. (imo) it comes from this enduring perception-
Tanushree Pandey@TanushreePande

What is Dolly Singh, Kusha Kapila, Beer Biceps's contribution to CINEMA? Why are they being taken to #CannesFilmFestival2023 & interviewed by @BrutIndia? Where are we headed with this absurdity? "Influencers" taking over real art, talent, and hard work in this country is SHAME!

@riachops Considering the impact on pop culture, even if you ignore how good a film it is, you should watch it.

I love how my dad saves numbers on his phone (he's a lawyer, who's surprisingly bad at remembering names) It'll always be some obscure place they met/ interacted/ spoke about and full name (he uses the address column too!). But the real loved ones are "xx Friend" or "xx Bro" 🥰

@diisha1608 Makes sense. Food as status signalling sounds like dystopia but so true lol.

@wikikedia but inequality helps stuff like fine dining- if you have a small elite that is very interested in acquiring status symbols to differentiate itself- fine dines serve that purpose lol

I was wondering how Latin American capitals (Lima, Santiago etc.) have a vibrant fine-dining landscape and Delhi barely has one, and then I realized

@diisha1608 Yeah quite possible, they have much better income and lesser inequality. Wondering how much of this could also be simply cultural differences, as in adoption of fine dining lifestyle by the population.

@riachops @varungrover, and Biswa, for the balance between relatable middle class content and delivery and the high-concept scientific/sociopolitical scenarios along with detailed world building. Also Karunesh Talwar, for the delivery style. Bassi is also chill anecdote-style fun.

Who is a stand-up comic you'd bet on? Someone for whom you can pick any random video/show of theirs and it's guaranteed to be at least an above-average watch. No bad stuff at all.
