Man United’s midfield rebuild could end up being M. Fernandes, Ederson, & Tonali this summer. With Anderson now reportedly valued well above the €100M mark, that deal feels almost impossible unless something major changes. Fernandes adds energy and technical quality, Ederson brings balance and physicality, while Tonali would be the marquee signing with leadership and control in midfield. If this ends up being the trio, i think it’s very decent with Mainoo.

An Open Letter to @INEOS @OmarBerrada , @ManUtd and @carras16 Dear Omar Berrada, Manchester United hierarchy and Michael Carrick, Please do not make another transfer mistake with Ederson. Manchester United cannot keep repeating the same cycle buying profiles that do not fit a long-term football vision. If reports linking us with Ederson are true, the club must ask a very simple question, does he genuinely elevate Manchester United, or are we just buying another “decent player” instead of the right player? United need to stop collecting midfielders and start building an identity. We already have a destroyer-type profile in midfield in person of Ugarte. A player who is clearly not in Carrick plan. We do not need another player whose primary strengths are work rate, ball-winning and physical output if the elite technical ceiling is still a question. United need midfielders who can dominate games, progress play under pressure, control tempo and grow with the next era of the club. Age profile matters too. United should be building a core that peaks together in 3–5 years, not repeatedly spending huge money on players approaching the later stages of their prime with limited resale value and little room for development. And this is where recent history should scare us. Manchester United have spent heavily on players arriving from Serie A and too often the results have disappointed. In recent times, players like Amad, Zirkzee, Rasmus have all failed at this club. Recruitment should not be: "Who's available?" Recruitment should be: "What does Manchester United want to become?" The badge deserves a football strategy, not another expensive gamble especially in the middle of the park.
