Finding Our Power Together
Let's continue to break the stigma surrounding mental illness by connecting with one person closest to us. However, we know this will take time, so in the meantime, feel free to reach out to the Finding Our Power Together team - we are always here to listen and lend support.

Nicole Ineese-Nash (@OISEUofT) draws mostly on Anishinaabek knowledges to explore disability using a critical disability lens to understand how Indigenous ontologies are positioned w/in the dominant discourse of disabled peoples in Canada. cjds.uwaterloo.ca/index.php/cjds…

NEW FEELING
NEW FEELING@newfeelingcoop·
Toronto-based @wildflowerkwe lays her feelings bare on bawaajiganan. The Anishinaabe artist's debut EP is full of emotionally charged electronic/trip-hop tracks and it’s kicked-off with an incredible cover of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Dreams’

@medicine81 The darkest natives tend to experience the most violent forms of racism. What I’m trying to say here is that this is due to their proximity to Blackness. It’s obviously not as simple as a sliding scale of skin tone but the experience of anti-native racism is tied to antiblackness

Unpopular opinion: A lot of us Indig. ppl also benefit from white privilege, especially those of us who are “white passing”. Racism based on skin colour is always on a spectrum related to Blackness. This is why it’s so important that we fight white supremacy collectively.

@barefoot_pivots As complex as it is to be “mixed-race” or “white passing”, it would be great if we could recognize the attitudes about it as being based on white supremacy and just stop participating in it in our own communities.

If you don’t understand why anti-Black racism is also an Indigenous problem in Canada, you don’t understand settler-colonialism.

I am not an expert on abolition. I'm a student of abolitionism. But I can tell you this. As someone who has studied it pretty intensively for about 5 years now: a lot of these people who are using the word abolition right now, do not even know what it means.

The widespread awakening of white people to police brutality and injustice is great, but I gotta ask, did you just not believe people of colour when they decried these issues before?

Is anyone else tired of seeing the qualifier of “peaceful” in front of the word protest in news coverage? Social movements do not need to be neat and tidy to be valid.
