It's heartbreaking to see how predators who prey on the innocent often escape true accountability, leaving behind shattered little lives that can never be whole again.
Those precious children, once full of innocence and trust, are forever changed, robbed of their childhood, their spirits dimmed, trapped in bodies that feel like prisons and minds haunted by shadows that no amount of time can erase.
The violation of a vulnerable child is nothing short of a profound tragedy, equal to the loss of life itself. It should be treated as manslaughter for it extinguishes the light of that pure, unscarred soul and thrusting them into a harsh adulthood they're not equipped to face.
Imagine the terror a child carries every day: a world that feels overwhelmingly frightening, where love and safety are fractured, even from those who cherish them the most, people who want to 'fix' a ruined soul.
This devastation ripples outwards, claiming not just one victim, but families and futures and entire communities in its wake.
At the very least, we owe it to these SA survivors to ensure their perpetrators endure a sentence that mirrors the endless pain and struggle they've inflicted on the child, a lifetime of consequences for a lifetime stolen. If we fail to do this, we become a society that turns a blind eye to the suffering of our most defenceless, allowing such horrors to persist ... and what a painful, shameful reflection that would be, one that no compassionate heart could bear to confront.
In the quiet moments, we must pause and ask ourselves with heavy hearts: "WHO IS THE REAL PRISONER HERE?"
