Fascinated & very happy today but not surprised when the final assessment was made on my favourite oak tree in Althorp park. Experts in ancient & veteran tree studies placed the 'matriarchal' oak at c750 years of age and classed her ancient. Conservation@althorp.com #ancientoak

@curlewcalls I think it’s a trap many of us who write about pest control fall into, Mary. I certainly have. Don’t agree it’s necessarily derogatory though. Like ‘pest’, it’s just a convenient generic term for species in need of control under certain circumstances.

#crufts2023 PLEASE stop using the term “vermin” when talking about native wildlife like foxes, rats and badgers. It is a horrible, derogatory word.

Lineker, Shearer and Wright…a nightmare for goalkeepers in the 1990s, a nightmare for #ToryFascists in the 2020s! 👏👌 #IStandWithGary

Applying for countryside stewardship and wanting to put a barn owl box on a field boundary between two grass margins this has been declined as I have to put it on a barn!? I know it's a BARN owl, but they did actually originally evolve to live in tree holes, not barns...
