@James_S_Murphy My question is and has been, “What happens when the children of low-income graduates apply for admission to Harvard or anywhere else?” Assuming an alumnus has achieved all the advantages of an “elite” education, how will his/her child be treated in the admission process?
English

As I noted in this thread, legacy preferences almost certainly are part of the reason almost 10% of students at Harvard come from just 21 US high schools. x.com/James_S_Murphy…

This is such good reporting from the @harvardcrimeson: There are about 27,000 high schools in the U.S. Over the past 15 years, 1 in 11 students at Harvard have come from just 21 high schools. So 9.1% of Harvard students come from 0.07% of US schools. @nytdavidbrooks

@JohnFugelsang This is why keeping church and state separate is such a great idea. No religious text should dictate what people do in their own lives or what governments should do.

Well, "Pastor"
Matthew 22:37-40
Mark 12:30-31
Luke 10:27
Luke 10:25-37
Matthew 5:43-44
Luke 6:27-28
Matthew 7:1-2
John 8:7
John 13:34-35 .
..and He commands you treat LGBT ppl as you'd treat Him in Matthew 25.
Let me guess - you cling to Leviticus to justify your anti-gay hangups.
But you yourself don't follow or obey Leviticus, you just weaponize it against a minority you dislike.

@JohnFugelsang Show me where Jesus says, “Love LGBTQ people.” I’ll wait

@woofknight I hear that and second it. Glad I’m not the only one!
English

@woofknight Took my grandmother to see it when it came out; her first movie in years. I was so embarrassed at how unfunny it was. Sucked all the funny out of the room. I apologized to her but she was diplomatic about it. Worst movie ever.

Murder by Death is a 1976 American comedy mystery film directed by Robert Moore and written by Neil Simon. The film stars Eileen Brennan, Truman Capote, James Coco, Peter Falk, Alec Guinness, Elsa Lanchester, David Niven, Peter Sellers, Maggie Smith, Nancy Walker, and Estelle Winwood.
The plot is a broad parody or spoof of the traditional country-house whodunit, familiar to mystery fiction fans of classics such as Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None. The cast is an ensemble of British and American actors playing send-ups of well-known fictional sleuths, including Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, Charlie Chan, Nick and Nora Charles, and Sam Spade. It also features a rare acting performance by author Truman Capote.

@jbf1755 I remember hearing something about the American founders wanting the king to be law or something like that. I’m fuzzy on the details, but the gist was they staked their life, property and sacred honor to defend the high cause of lawlessness by the powerful.

@jbf1755 He is a complete idiot and fraud as well as a convicted criminal (pardoned by the Felon-in-Chief).

The first words Steve Bannon will hear from his cell mate, Bubba, will be, “Here’s what you need to know. All hell is going to break loose tonight. I’ll tell you this: it’s not going to happen like you think it’s going to happen. It’s going to be quite extraordinarily different, and all I can say is strap in!”
Then, for the next few days, Steve Bannon will waddle when he walks.
Best of luck, Steve-O!

@kerrlockhart On the Protestant side, I think “debts” suggests the practical, unadorned view of life that begat modern capitalism. On the Catholic side, “trespasses” seems a lot more comprehensive! And what about lopping off the rest? “For thine is the kingdom…”? What happened there?

@willdix55 @Enezator Congrats ...they know fine well it's a chipmunk but by posting that it is a squirrel they catch all the gullible know alls that have to post a correction ....
