Dear boomers, can you afford to buy the house you live in currently with the wage you used to earn before you retired? If you can’t, then that’s the whole housing problem in a nutshell. It really is that simple to understand.

Huge congratulations to Bodhana Sivanandan on becoming England’s top female chess player at just 11 years old. We once played each other in the Downing Street garden. Let’s just say her success has not come as a shock!

@willesdenchess1 @ecfchess @schoolschess Overall, England currently has some great talent among junior players, so I think in the long run could be hope for a high Olympiad finish, maybe even a medal. I think Bodhana will play there too, as she could be 2600, maybe a 2700+ player, an important addition to the team.

This is sick Ayesha Hazarika and Stig Abel on Times Radio are joking about the rape gang scandal The mass rape of young girls and the cover up that followed is not a joke This pair of leftists should both publicly apologise for demeaning victims and what happened to them
Samantha Smith@SamanthaTaghoy

I was sexually abused from the age of 5. I still feel the hands on my skin. I still get night terrors. I still struggle with relationships and trusting others. But apparently the mass rape of little girls is just a joke to these leftist cretins.

Rent on all social housing which is near 20% of Englands housing and 40% in inner London is set centrally by the social housing regulator. The result is inefficiently distributed housing which increases rents in the private sector. We still have rent control and its terrible!
Gareth@g_f_red

We had rent controls in Britain until 1915 to 1988 and during this time housebuilding regularly hit over 300k per year. Since they were removed, the house price to income ratio has gone from 4:1 to around 8:1, and housebuilding numbers have collapsed.

@willesdenchess1 @chesstutor The Blunder Bunny lives? Kids are still coached to think "Bunny" before moving to avoid blundering away their #chess games?

@chesstutor How anyone can get themselves checkmated on move 9 of a standard #chess opening baffles me.

@_TheLondoner This is what happens when you have social housing levels so high in central London : eg Islington is 40% social housng. Social housing tenants have much lower rates of work, and the actual low paid workers are forced to commute from shanty towns in Essex

Ionel spends his days demolishing buildings in central London. But by night, he and many more of London’s workers live at Buckles Lane: a caravan park on the edge of Essex that people are turning to in a housing crisis.
