This is heartbreaking. The team at Rose Bruford Wigan are incredible and I love working there every time. The atmosphere in the building is still incredible despite this terrible news. I just wish something could be done.

@johnr_light Panto is booked in (which is always nice this early) but that’s it for new stuff in ‘24 so far. Producers are either cutting back or just remounting shows they already have. Hang in there.

@johnr_light Don’t despair fella. I’ve seen your work, you’re top notch! I often feel the same, then BOOM! Stuff piles in. It IS quiet out there at the moment. The only ‘new’ work I’m doing at the moment is drama schools. The rest is revivals (4 in the last 9 months).

It feels really odd at the moment. I’m just one of many in a weird place where the calendar becomes empty very soon and you wonder will it ever get better, is it because I’m just not that good at what I do…, is it just because the work isn’t there… I often believe the former a lot! !
You have to ask, Is it sustainable anymore? #evaluatinglife

@JessBrigham4 Hi Jess. Probably about 5 ish years into my career but really it’s up to you. Once you’re starting to deal with larger organisations and/or commercial companies then it’s definitely worth courting agents. Good luck! 🤞

I love lighting design; I'm really good at it according to the people I work with. But it will never pay my bills. So I PM, or I prod LX, or I help run a company or I end up doing 5 jobs on one show. It burns me out but how else do I stay in an industry I don't want to leave?
