We commend the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for continued collaboration with our country, support that has reinforced our economic stability and enabled sustained investment in priority sectors. We discussed the war in the Gulf, the repercussions on African and global economies, and the options to minimise the effects on citizens and countries. Thanked Mr Abebe, who is leaving the IMF, for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the IMF members in our continent. Wished him well in his future endeavours.

We are constantly consulting grassroots leaders to align our development priorities with the needs of the people, ensuring our agenda is relevant, targeted, and delivers real impact. Met Machakos Members of County Assembly, led by Speaker Anne Kiusya and Machakos Town MP Caleb Mutiso Mule, State House, Nairobi. Our discussions focused on the delivery of critical infrastructure, including roads and water projects, advancing affordable housing and modern markets, strengthening agricultural productivity, and expanding electricity connectivity in the county.

We call on our young people to shun drug abuse and alcoholism, a vice that continues to destroy the potential of far too many youth across the country. This challenge demands a whole-of-society response, bringing together parents, religious organisations, communities and Government. As Government, we are implementing robust measures to confront this destructive vice decisively and conclusively. A joint team, comprising the National Campaign Against Drug Abuse (NACADA) and the Anti-Narcotics Police Unit, is actively pursuing those smuggling drugs into the country, as well as those involved in the production and distribution of illicit alcohol. We will be working and collaborating closely with the Church and other religious groups, among others, in the fight against this scourge. We are working with leaders from Machakos and other Lower Eastern counties to tackle development challenges that have made the region lag behind for far too long. Our goal is to unlock the region’s economic potential through investment in infrastructure, water, agriculture and enterprise. By aligning leadership and resources, we will drive inclusive growth, create jobs and deliver lasting transformation for our people. Met leaders from Machakos County at State House Nairobi, who were led by Mwala MP Vincent Kawaya. Others were Machakos Town MP Caleb Mule, Kangundo MP Fabian Muli, Masinga MP Joshua Mwalyo, and former State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita.

We are transforming Nairobi into a modern, clean and orderly city. Working closely with the county government, we have accelerated progress in waste management, street lighting, power connectivity, roads development, water, sewerage and the regeneration of Nairobi River. Thanks to our coordinated waste management plan, more than 40 trucks are already clearing legacy waste, with 150 more being mobilised within three weeks. We are installing over 40,000 solar and smart streetlights and rehabilitating 10,000 existing ones, rolling out power connections to informal settlements, and delivering 247km of new and rehabilitated roads with drainage and lighting, with 63 km already underway and 77 per cent complete. The Ng'ethu-Gigiri water works expansion will soon supply 51,000 cubic metres of water to the city while the Nairobi Rivers Regeneration Programme is on course, with the Gikomba Market river front having started. The construction of a modern Gikomba Market will provide a safe and dignified work space for nearly 5,000 traders, ease congestion and reduce fire risks. Received a progress report on the implementation of the Cooperation Agreement between the National Government and Nairobi City County, State House, Nairobi.

Addressed 5,000 members of the Maendeleo ya Wanawake Organisation, @StateHouseKenya Nairobi, in the company of First Lady @MamaRachelRuto.

We are also working with Parliament to achieve the two-thirds gender rule and ensure fair representation of women in elective positions.

To uplift women entrepreneurs, we have committed KSh250 million to the Maendeleo ya Wanawake Sacco to expand access to affordable credit and strengthen their economic participation.
