It’s quite surreal to note the last appearance of Prof Lord Robert Winston on the BBC was on the 14 Oct 2021. A long-running BBC presenter of science programmes and regular contributor to several shows, yet no where to be seen on the state broadcaster after stating this fact:

@KonstantinKisin Comparing the murder of Charlie Kirk to 9/11 is crazy. To also suggest he was some centre right guy who just wanted people to vote Republican is wrong. He was anti gay, anti abortion and pro gun rights to the extreme. He was not some moderate, modern day Socrates

@RichardHanania It's hard to know how to take this. On the one hand, it's great you're taking accountability, but part of the reason we're in this mess is because people who should have known better made the wrong call

For those asking: yes, voting for Trump was a mistake. I thought we'd get a repeat of the first administration, but we didn't. The signs were there, I just did not take my own ideas about the awfulness of Trump and MAGA seriously enough.

@RussLatino There are countless business like this. They will all need to relearn the basic principles of free market economics & move manufacturing back to the US. & that's a good thing.

I just got off the phone with a business owner in Mississippi. He’s pumped millions into a business distributing a product he imports from China. His contract with the company prevents him from manufacturing it in the U.S. He also has contracts with a number of large retailers (Walmart, Walgreens, etc). He described some of those contracts as inflexible — requiring him to sell a unit at a set price. He told me he anticipates paying over $1 million in tariffs next week (as the 54% tariff kicks in) and has no ability to simply upcharge his retail customers to cover the expense. In his words, “Russ, I don’t have 54% profit. This is put me out of business stuff.” I share this because there are probably tens of thousands of businesses in similar situations. I just happened to have one reach out to me.

@Tim_Pettit_ @ChrisMurphyCT You're right but the reality is that if Ukraine refuses to sign the 'deal'. Trump will cut off US support and Ukraine will be toast so Zelensky will have no option. This is the cruelty of it. Technically you're right but I fear practically it won't work like that

I’m confused. How can the US impose a ceasefire on Ukraine? The US can either continue to support Ukraine or not. That is its decision. But Ukraine is sovereign. It enters its own agreements. It can continue the war with Russia or seek a as ceasefire. That is its decision. Why is this being framed as the US entering a ceasefire agreement without the consent of Ukraine? It can’t.

Here is a recap of the Ukraine situation, for those choosing to reject propaganda and continue seeking truth: December 1994, Ukraine agrees to give up its nuclear arsenal in return for security guarantees from the US, UK, France, China and Russia. February 2014, Russia invades and subsequently annexes Crimea, President Obama does next to nothing. War through weakness. July 2019, Trump admin withholds $250 million in military aid to Ukraine to apply pressure to investigate alleged corruption by Hunter and Joe Biden. February 2022, Russia invades a weakened Ukraine, world expects Zelenskyy to flee and Kyiv to fall within days. Ukrainians fight bravely for 3+ years, inflict hundreds of thousands of casualties on Russian army, weaken Putin politically. U.S. has sent ~$70 billion in outdated military equipment to Ukraine since start of war, providing opportunity for U.S. military to modernize its weaponry. We’ve sent an additional $30+ billion in budget support, $75 billion in ancillary appropriations related to war. ~50,000 Ukrainians have died defending their homeland, protecting U.S. and Western interests in the process. Meanwhile, the U.S. President and V.P. are calling democratically-elected Zelenskyy a dictator and berating him in Oval Office in pursuit of a financial payoff. The U.S. should be thanking Ukrainians, who have fought for our common interests with only modest financial support from a country with a ~$30 trillion GDP. America can and will reclaim its backbone again soon, with better policy and messaging from common sense moderates. Slava Ukraina.

RFK Jr apologists: “He’s softened his stance on vaccines & now focuses on healthy food” 1) NO. He hasn’t. Altering language to seem less radical is a tactic to appeal to more people. You fell for it. 2) he has undermined ALL SCIENCE: food, farming, vaccines, environment. 1/

@RoryStewartUK Biden started off strongly but increasingly seems like the out of touch elite he's characterised as... Pardoned his own son, refused to find a successor, disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, timid on Ukraine, toothless with Israel & Trump again... History will not be kind

Biden’s pardon of his son is shocking - and sets a terrible precedent on the eve of the Trump Presidency. To overrule a full legal judgement in this way is bad: to do it for your own son makes the matter not better but worse.

@AyoCaesar This is why they prosecuted Hunter so strongly because they knew Biden Sr would pardon him, paving the way for Trump to do the same for his mates. History will not judge Biden kindly

If struggling on assisted dying: wd you trust the Whitehall of 45 minutes, financial regulation, Iraq, Afghanistan, Brexit negotiations, 'Online Harms', covid & ukraine - with an NHS in meltdown & *already* encouraging families to put 'do not resuscitate' orders on healthy people - to figure out *in a few weeks* philosophical issues around death humans have struggled with throughout history then execute competently, honestly & with kindness? @lgkeogh Life isn’t easy for a lot of people. But if you don’t find a way to give your kid some breakfast each day, in 2024 Britain, you’re a failure of a parent and someone should call the social services.

Children shouldn’t start classes on an empty stomach; that goes without saying. But since when did it become the role of the state to sort pre-school breakfast for children? Isn’t providing your child with breakfast sort of parenting 1.01? Like brushing their teeth at night? If parents are sending their children to school hungry someone needs to call social services. This is neglect. Children arriving at school hungry, teeth rotting, not toilet trained, not communicating… these things are not the role of the state. There’s a parenting crisis in this country.
