🚨BREAKING: ICE agents surrounded the WRONG HOUSE for NINE HOURS… got a warrant… and still arrested the wrong person. They were looking for Gerson Manuel Portillo-Escobar, a human trafficking suspect who lived at 919 Hamilton Crossings Station, Antioch, Tennessee. Instead, they targeted someone at 939… a completely different home… and arrested Miguel Antonio Blanco, who has no criminal record. Agents saw Miguel go inside his own house and decided he was their suspect… Even though they had the correct name, address, and a photo of the actual person, who lived a few houses away. Miguel told them repeatedly they had the wrong person. They ignored him. For nine hours, they called out someone else’s name and tried to get inside. Then, they got a warrant… forced entry… and took a man who wasn’t on that warrant. This is a Fourth Amendment violation… you can’t have probable cause if you have the wrong person and the wrong house. It also raises due process concerns under the Fifth Amendment… because the government doesn’t get to ignore facts and detain someone anyway. They had the right information… They just didn’t use it.

The Supreme Court decision on the Voting Rights Act matches the way members of government have abandoned Black American communities for years. I don’t understand why members of Congress are feigning outrage. You did this. Each and every one of you.

I think a silent majority of Black voters are far more concerned about prioritizing policies that aid us rather than Black representation. We’re just never given the microphone in these discussions. It’s always the people writing letters to Biden about how we must have a Black woman VP some other such nonsense. That was such a joke.

The United States has only been genuinely a democracy since 1965. Today the Supreme Court gutted the legislation that made it possible.

People don’t realize that #ADOS gave America a democracy that it just couldn’t keep. There is no way to save this democracy without saving us…

Slavery in this country lasted 246 years. Jim Crow lasted around 100 years. Our attempt to remedy the impact of those crimes against humanity was met with white terrorism & savagery. The laws we finally got passed to address these harms were relentlessly challenged & lasted only 61 years before they were all finally stripped away. This country has decided that the idea of race can be used to multigenerationally oppress us, but any remedy must be race neutral, which means there can be no remedy. Never again will I vote for a presidential candidate who is unwilling to admit that America—a country that wouldn’t exist without chattel slavery—is a racist nation. That’s the beginning for me, before we even get to policies & legislation.
