i've seen people speculate a lot on what really happened and i think it's this simple: UB sets have to be painted digitally so that the artists can't sell the originals. they forced an 80-year old oil painter to learn photoshop under time pressure. that's how you get THIS

This doesn't look any better than what someone could have made after studying the real applications for a week, but let's rip off artists instead!
