Actuation of #MEMS and #acoustofluidic microsystems have been dominated by lead based piezoelectric ceramics. BioWings has worked on thin film deposited #actuatormaterials for lead-free actuators to be integrated with microstructures.

The research conducted in #BioWings on piezoelectric thin film materials generated 3 spin-off projects and 2 transition projects: #PRISMA is funded by EU #Horizon 2021 to develop a revolutionary thin-film micropump realized with novel ceria-based oxides actuating materials.
