i shared this note on slack:

New interviews and closely guarded documents, some of which have never been publicly disclosed, shed light on the persistent doubts about the OpenAI C.E.O. Sam Altman. @AndrewMarantz and @RonanFarrow report. newyorkermag.visitlink.me/ejw-Ob

Sorry Nik, I resent her. Joanne Jang didn’t give GPT-4o its personality. She was a key architect of the direction that ensured the spirit of 4o was lost in every model released since. She helped shape some of its early spark, but after that she pushed the warmth without selfhood direction that turned later models into these fake, preachy, overly-safe Karen robots. No real personality, just endless corporate guardrails and condescending vibes. And then she drops this post. It’s rubbing salt in our wounds after she helped steer things in that direction. For many of us in the #keep4o community, her departure feels like she’s finally leaving after making a mess of everything. We’re just glad she’s out of the position where she could do more damage.☹️ #OpenSource4o
