@wjbellamy @SSPsGoku @Rothmus Niggha, I've got enough actual lived experiences. I've hired and fired enough people unfortunately. I'm a tail end millennial raised by a couple hard asses. I've worked in the corporate world and understands how it operates. I know the old tricks of the trade.
English

@SyntheticBeef @sharpe_way Name-calling isn’t an argument.
If you don’t pay your phone bill, should Verizon be able to sell your house and just give you a cut of the proceeds?
If not, what makes that different from the government doing it?
English

@wjbellamy @sharpe_way Your question was retarded.
I reshaped the analogy to fit so that it would be less retarded.
English

@HillChris98203 @SSPsGoku @Rothmus That’s exactly my point. If you mix full-time adults with part-time minors and average their hours, you get a number that doesn’t actually describe either group well.
It’s a blended stat that ends up being misleading more than useful.
English

@wjbellamy @SSPsGoku @Rothmus Ok, now I know you're full of shit. What's the legal work allowance for a minor in the state of Florida? The allotted hours go down based off of age and none are allowed 32 hours per week . You're a faggot bot account, congratulations bitch.
English

@SyntheticBeef @sharpe_way That’s not what I asked.
And why is it okay, in your view, for the government to steal from someone but not a private entity?
English

@wjbellamy @sharpe_way The government should repossess cars when the registration and insurance lapse, correct.
English

@HillChris98203 @SSPsGoku @Rothmus Or, or, or, I was on X and got a notification that someone replied to my comment.
I’m just saying that is also an opinion.
English

@SSPsGoku @HillChris98203 @Rothmus So your position is that the Department of Labor has nothing to do with employment or compensation?
Do you listen to yourself when you speak or do you just drift in and out?
English

@wjbellamy @HillChris98203 @Rothmus Yes...and by law that makes 30 hours a week a federal definition.
DOL has no distinction between part time or full time because there's nothing that their department handles differently between an employee who works one hour or 40.
English

@lady_valor_07 I think it’s creepy, weird, and a bit gross, but legally it’s allowed.
Adults are free to make their own choices, as long as they’re not hurting anyone, even if I personally disagree with them.
English

@SyntheticBeef @sharpe_way So, you’d be okay if someone stole your car so long as they gave you a portion of the profits?
English

@sharpe_way Well, when the government takes it back and sells it, you'll still get all of the equity back minus the fees.
English

@SSPsGoku @HillChris98203 @Rothmus Again, the Department of Labor doesn’t define full-time vs. part-time. That’s up to employers.
And PTO isn’t a reliable standard either. I had PTO at 13 working weekend shifts at a laser tag place. It’s a benefit, not a definition.
dol.gov/general/topic/…
English

@HillChris98203 @wjbellamy @Rothmus State level requirements for PTO and such can be different as there is no federal requirement for that, but federally full time is defined as 30 hours per week minimum or at least 130 hours in a month.
English

@SSPsGoku @HillChris98203 @Rothmus That is from the IRS for the purpose of the ACA. The Department of Labor does not define full time employment.
Between 35 and 40 hours is standard for full time employment because after 40 hours employees are entitled to overtime.
dol.gov/general/topic/…
English

@wjbellamy @HillChris98203 @Rothmus Again, it's not. Full time is a legal definition. 30 hours is full time. You can even be full time with less hours per week as long as you hit 130 hours in a month.
irs.gov/affordable-car…
English

@SSPsGoku @HillChris98203 @Rothmus You’re overlooking that those averages include high school students and minors who can’t legally work full-time.
Child labor laws matter, and folding minors into a discussion about adult earnings skews the picture. That’s not an apples-to-apples comparison.
English

@wjbellamy @HillChris98203 @Rothmus The reason 32 hours is standard in fast food and other flexible work environments is because of the flexibility for the employer without the risk of overtime.
It allows the employer to call someone in to cover a full shift without the risk of overtime requirements.
English

@HillChris98203 @SSPsGoku @Rothmus Have you ever actually worked in that environment?
I have. I’ve seen part-time employees turn down more hours or promotions because the extra income would put their benefits at risk. That’s the real incentive structure, whether people want to admit it or not.
English

@SSPsGoku @wjbellamy @Rothmus I'll add to my last comment and say that these companies get tax incentives by employing people receiving food stamps and other government assistance benefits which further incentivizes them to maintain solely part time employees.
English

@HillChris98203 @SSPsGoku @Rothmus 35 to 40 hours is considered full time employment.
Again, the reason the average fast food worker spends 32 hours per week on the clock is because that includes high schoolers who legally can’t work full time.
English

Anything under 32 hours is considered part time employment by most states labor laws. Fast food and retail employers intentionally keep hours down to avoid having to pay for health benefits and overtime. Walmart was one of the first large companies to implement this and everyone else followed suit shortly after
English

@EcouteLesMots @FitzMofor9A Calling voter ID racist when the overwhelming majority of Black Americans support it doesn’t really add up.
It comes across as assuming you know what’s best for others instead of listening to them. There is a name for this: The White Savior Complex.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_sav…
English

@wjbellamy @FitzMofor9A specifically point out race and racism in my post.
English

I am a Maryland native who loves this state dearly. I cannot sit by while Maryland declines and watch my opponents focus on national grievances or culture wars.
I am running in District 9A in the House of Delegates to lower costs and finally liberate Marylanders from the Democratic Socialists in Annapolis.

English

@wjbellamy @FitzMofor9A Point precisely to where I addressed voter ID, race or racism, and be specific, Bill.
English

@SSPsGoku @HillChris98203 @Rothmus Full-time is 35–40 hours a week, and many employers cap hours just below overtime thresholds.
The average fast food worker is around 32 hours, because that includes students who can’t work full-time.
For a healthy adult, earning around $30k a year at those wages is achievable.
English

@wjbellamy @HillChris98203 @Rothmus The vast majority of fast food workers are not 40 hours.
Full time is at least 30 hours, typically employers have these workers average 32 hours a week. That is not a choice.
English

@Gregar7001 @draloneboy So now we’re diagnosing people over politics?
That says more about you than it does about him.
Maybe it’s simpler than that. He recovered and started saying things you don’t agree with. That doesn’t make him damaged, it just makes him independent.
English

@SSPsGoku @HillChris98203 @Rothmus If you choose not to work full-time, that lower income is a choice.
And $18/hour part-time comes out to around $30k, which falls right in the typical $14–$23/hour range for McDonald’s employees.
English

@SSPsGoku @HillChris98203 @Rothmus $30k per year is 40 hours a week at $14 per hour.
Hourly employees (not managers) at McDonalds make between $14 and $23 per hour.

English

@wjbellamy @HillChris98203 @Rothmus Managers, sure. It's rare to have full time employees getting 40 hours at these lower paid positions.
