@WKCosmo Not saying it’s great, but ‘$42B project connected nobody’ sounds as if that money was wasted. not a single federal project, but a long term program focussed on fixed line over satellite, which needs local planning and execution. And starlink proved they didn’t need the subsidy.

@wlfmw After the legislation founding the Tennessee Valley Authority was passed in 1933, dam construction started within five months. It's coming up on five YEARS, and ... nothing. Had Starlink remained a part of the program, it would already be a good part of the way to completion.

@WKCosmo Sounds like it was written to intrigue the causal reader into turning the page. We all have ancient dna fragments left that code for morbid rubbernecking when activated, im sure.

It's remarkable to me that somebody could write the words "raising her children to detest AI" and not think that this would lead the reader to the conclusion that the person the sentence about is pretty seriously mentally ill.
The New Yorker@NewYorker

Jessica Winter has been raising her children to detest A.I. Then her daughter’s public middle school began receiving Google Chromebooks, which came pre-installed with an all-ages version of Gemini, a suite of A.I. tools. “When my daughter, who is in sixth grade, begins writing an

My brother used to live across from the railroad tracks on Alder St. in Missoula MT, and he had a black cat named Lawnmower. One night he tailed Lawn on his evening rounds, and discovered that the cat had a cache of rodent corpses piled in a hole in between the tracks that he would go roll in like Scrooge McDuck in a swimming pool full of gold.

My friend has a cat that caught 27 mice in one night, then arranged them like this all by himself, as if to show off his achievement.

I had dinner once with a top physicist and a top computer scientist and asked what they thought the probability was that we were in a simulation. They answered simultaneously at 0% and 100% respectively. It was like a double-slit experiment, but with humans.
Interstellar@InterstellarUAP

🚨 Simulation Theory: The Double Slit Experiment proves particles act like waves until observed then they snap into particles. What if our reality only "renders" when we're looking, just like a video game optimizing resources? Check out this episode from The Why Files
