For some reason, the National Debt Clock website now includes a $32 trillion “Treasury Reserve” to offset the visual impact of a $39 trillion national debt. But this is misleading, as no such reserve exists. I don't know what motivated the move to minimize the risk of the debt.

British police recently arrested a mannequin during a protest outside the Ministry of Justice in London. The mannequin held a sign supporting Palestine Action, a group designated as a terrorist organization under UK law for its direct action campaigns. Protesters from the Defend Our Juries campaign used the dummy to highlight what they see as an overly broad application of anti-terrorism rules against peaceful signs opposing the ban. Officers also detained dozens of human demonstrators alongside the mannequin for holding similar messages.
