They pulled out the original brick & street car tracks. The project had to happen so it doesn’t have to happen again for another 80 years.

@bobbyb58758961 @KSTP Word is they are shifting their other locations to be a more upscale steakhouse and $30 burger vibe. It can work in the North Loop and it can work in the suburbs but in uptown nobody wants to pay $30 for a burger. Their lease was up in June, so it was easy to leave then.

It was also pretty busy, especially around christmas. even in 2025 you couldn’t get a table. Has nothing to do with profits

@Tandr508 @KSTP The reconstruction would have happened wether or not they added a bikeway. The street was more than 70-80 years old (past the point where resurfacing is cost effective) and the sewer and utility needed to be replaced. They put in a bikeway because it was easy to do in addition.

@KSTP Read this story. 60+ businesses closed during Hennepin Ave construction and post the full redesign, er, transformation. But gosh darn it, it was worth it: One (1) biker says the new lanes make it ‘way, way easier.’ ‘If it weren’t for this bike lane, I wouldn’t be on Hennepin.’
