@daddyhope I don't need to be English to understand that these kinds of posts simply don't help. They won't help the migrants in Britain and certainly not in SA because it's clear this is also an indirect swipe at SA.

345,000 jobs lost in 2026 so far. You’d swear South Africa doesn’t have money to create jobs through funding struggling SMEs. That’s the engine of the economy.

It was called The Aliens Compliance Order of 1969. A decree issued by the Ghanaian government, under Prime Minister Kofi Abrefa Busia, that mandated all undocumented immigrants to leave the country within 14 days. Enacted on November 18, 1969, the order primarily targeted West African migrants—most notably Nigerians, but also citizens of Togo, Mali, and Burkina Faso.
Redi Tlhabi@RediTlhabi

Yes they did. Ghana expelled a HUGE number of Nigerians, claiming they were taking their jobs and there was crime and economic pressure. They even passed a law to enable this. I forget its name but there was some Aliens what what South Africa has not even come close to that. Nigeria retaliated during its economic crisis in the 1980s and started a campaign sanctioned by its government and president. It was called "Ghana Must Go." The state, government and broader society of South Africa has not even come close to that.

@RediTlhabi @RediTlhabi do you think the SADC should be supporting SA? If this keeps up our government might be forced to take a hard stance on migration and countries like Zimbabwe, Mozambique and the rest of the SADC would suffer if SA started turning migrants away.

Same week....UN, AU, embassies, media. Same pattern.

@RediTlhabi @osmaseko The UN statement was also very sus.. It’s becoming clear who is driving this narrative, but like the ‘white genocide’ and ‘Iran backed’ accusations, this too shall fail.

@errolbsk I think leaders are a reflection of a society, they reflect the morals, values and intelligence of the general population and thus when leaders fail, society also has to be held accountable because they are the ones that choose the horrible leaders.

Africa doesn't have a curse of bad political leaders, it has a curse of weak societies and voters, that allow politicians to do as they please when in power.

@Deividwachin @Malatjie_ If you were smart you would not want the Chinese to have unrestricted access to your grid. Go look at how much damage the Chinese have caused in Zimbabwe and you will quickly learn how ill advice you are with your statement. I expected better from the "African giants" 🚮

There is no way these African leaders are so immune to their own problems! The citizens in Ghana have been protesting against the same illegal immigrates! Most African leaders have ran their people out of their homelands! They want to bully us into submission, they failed their own people! They should be talking about getting back their people if they are so “ skilled” to migrate. Millions of people cannot come to South Africa, what are they running away from? That’s where the real problems is! They have homes and land, why are they here?
Sam Okudzeto Ablakwa@S_OkudzetoAblak

The Government of Ghana has formally written to the African Union requesting that the South African xenophobic attacks targeted at Africans be placed on the agenda at the upcoming Mid-Year Coordination Meeting to be attended by Heads of State and Government.

This morning, I had a phone conversation with Hon Ronald Lamola, South Africa Foreign Affairs Minister who expressed concern and misgivings concerning the plans by the government of Nigeria to evacuate its citizens desirous of leaving the Republic of South Africa due to the recent xenophobic attacks and anti-foreigner sentiments openly expressed during continuing anti-migrant protests in South Africa, the latest of which took place in Durban, South Africa, yesterday 6th May 2026. I maintained that our Government cannot stand by and watch the systematic harrasment and humiliation of our nationals resident in SA as well as the extra-judicial killings of our people, and that the evacuation of our citizens who want to return home remains our Government's priority at this time . I also highlighted the need for their police and justice systems to take the cases on ground of extra-judicial killings of Nigerians in South Africa more seriously and that there should be clear and immediate consequences for such acts. Yesterday's protests in Durban did not record acts of violence as there was heavy security presence. However Nigerians were advised to close their shops and businesses and stay largely indoors by Mission. Our discussions also centered on the violent and indiscriminate rhetoric and actions of South Africa's anti-foreigner political parties which puts the lives and properties of Nigerian and other Nationals at risk, but which conversely might also have the effect jeopardizing the safety of South African interests in Nigeria. Nigerians have exercised, and continue to demonstrate commendable restraint, in their response to the ongoing crisis. I also brought to his attention, having engaged with some of our Nationals resident with their families in South Africa, the unfortunate fact that Nigerian Children as well as children born of both Nigerian and South African parents (referred to as 'Sougerians' ) are being wrongfully bullied in schools and taunted to 'return to their country'. This is reprehensible and capable of causing trauma to young minds for whom such incidents may remain etched in memory. Hon. Lamola informed that the SA authorities recognise that they have a responsibility to protect these innocent children and doing their utmost through education supervisory bodies to discourage these practices. While we both pledged to continue to work together to de-escalate this crisis, noting the vehement condemnations of the President of South Africa, President Cyril Ramaphosa and SA Government of the prevailing state of affairs, what is worrisome to our citizens both in Nigeria and those resident in South Africa is that the demand that all foreigners leave South Africa, appears to be targeted only towards black Africans which makes one wonder whether what is happening should not be more accurately defined as 'Afriphobia' rather than Xenophobia. The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed that the Nigerian Missions in South Africa set up , with immediate effect, a crisis notifications unit for imperiled citizens who have also been advised first and foremost to contact SA security authorities whenever dangerous situations arise.

@Uncle_Thaps This is what we know of these so-called African leaders, quick to act against black people and say nothing when Africa is being attacked by outsiders. The USA went into Nigeria and bombed citizens and they said nothing. There were babies murdered in DRC and not a word from them
