Akira Toriyama has mentioned on several occasions that, besides being the one who personally chose Masako Nozawa as Goku’s voice actress, whenever he was drawing manga scenes with Goku’s dialogue, he would write those lines while hearing Nozawa’s voice in his head. He imagined exactly how she would deliver them once it became anime. For Toriyama, she is Goku.
