In one week, two people were killed by ICE in broad daylight. Now the Trump administration is blocking the FBI from investigating any ICE-related confrontation. And letting DHS investigate themselves. This doesn't create accountability or improve public safety. It will only bring more excessive force and less accountability.

The war in Iran has substantially raised fuel prices in Alaska, particularly in some of our most remote communities. We need to do everything we can to bring those prices back down as quickly as possible. A first step came last week, when EPA issued a Clean Air Act waiver to facilitate increased diesel production on the North Slope. That will help free up supplies currently trucked there for the rest of the state and hopefully provide a measure of relief across our state. This week, the Senate passed the Older Americans Act reauthorization, which includes portions of my bill, the Native ELDER Act. Elders are the keepers of languages, cultures, traditions, and histories. They deserve the opportunity to age with dignity in their own communities. My bill helps make that possible by expanding in-home support, strengthening family caregiving, increasing Tribal capacity to deliver services, and ensuring Native voices help shape the Older Americans Act programs. I’m proud to see this legislation advance and will keep working to ensure Native Elders have the support they deserve.
