@JoshKunnath @AJTeaches How do you communicate this through a grade book to parents. Currently, our online grade book is on a 100 point scale where you can average points over the semester or give categories weights.

@AJTeaches I use a 4-point scale, and I do recommend it. Here’s what the rest of the progression can look like:

Is minimum #grading giving students “something for nothing”? No. It's an attempt to fix a very broken percentage scale. #edchat

@MrDanielBuck The problem is you equate 50% to a failing grade. How is a 20% different from a 50%. Is that failing more? It’s a arbitrary number that is meaningless. Kids doesn’t turn in an assignment, they fail the assignment. No one is giving them anything. 0s makes recovery so much harder

“Students, at minimum, should get a 50% even if they hand nothing in!” Great. I’ll skip work every day and would still like half my paycheck please.
