Muzaffarnagar Police has arrested and jailed a food blogger named Anas, and the reason behind the action is raising serious concerns about freedom of expression and selective outrage. According to reports, Anas had created a promotional food video for a chicken outlet named “Al Yameen Chicken Center.” In the video, he briefly showed Muzaffarnagar’s famous Shiv Chowk at the beginning a landmark widely associated with the city’s identity, just as India Gate, Jama Masjid, Red Fort, Qutub Minar, or Lotus Temple are commonly shown in documentaries or travel videos related to Delhi. During those visuals, a temple and saffron flags visible at Shiv Chowk also appeared in the background. Later in the same video, food items from the chicken center were shown. Following objections from some Hindutva groups claiming that their religious sentiments were hurt, police reportedly took action against Anas and sent him to jail. The incident has triggered debate online, with many questioning whether showing a city landmark in a food vlog should lead to criminal action against a content creator trying to earn a livelihood through social media.

आज थोड़ी देर पहले मेरे घर के पास बने पार्क में एक लड़का और एक बुर्का पहने लड़की बैठी हुई थी, दोनों के चेहरे उदास थे... लड़के के कंधे पर बैग था, जिसमें शायद उसके कपड़े होंगे... मुझे उन्हें बैठा देखकर थोड़ा अजीब सा लगा, इसलिए मन में ख्याल आया कि क्यों ना इनसे बात की जाए... जैसे ही मैं पास गया, तो दोनों हड़बड़ाते हुए खड़े हो गए, लड़के के चेहरे पर उदासी साफ पढ़ी जा रही थी... मैने पूछा कि इधर इस तरह बैठकर क्या कर रहे हो, कहीं किसी गलत इरादे से तो नहीं बैठे हो, इतना सुनते ही वो लड़का रोने लगा... रोते हुए उसने कहा कि हम दोनों पति पत्नी हैं, परसों ईद है इसलिए एक बस में बैठकर अपने गांव जा रहे थे, लेकिन बस में काफी भीड़ होने के कारण मेरी पत्नी का बैग जिसमें हमारे सारे पैसे और मोबाइल था, वो किसी ने चुरा लिया... जब कंडक्टर ने बस का किराया मांगा तो हमारे पास पैसे नहीं निकले, हमने कंडक्टर को बस में तलाशी लेने को कहा तो वो बोला कि हमारी बस में चोर नहीं हैं... उसने बीच रस्ते में ही हमें अपनी बस से उतार दिया, बस एबी यहां बैठकर यही सोच रहे हैं कि घर कैसे जाएंगे... इतना बोलते ही उसकी पत्नी रोने लगी, और बोली घर पर दो छोटे बच्चे इंतजार कर रहे होंगे... मुझे दोनों की बातों में सच्चाई लगी, इसलिए पहले उनके घर की नंबर लेकर एक बार कन्फर्म किया, फिर उनसे पूछा कि खाना खाया जाया नहीं, उन्होंने ना में सिर हिला दिया... तब मैं पास की दुकान से पेटीज और कोल्ड ड्रिंक लेकर आ गया... फिर उनसे बोला कि गांव जाने का कितना किराया लगेगा, बोला कि लगभग 900 रूपये लग जायेगे... मैने अपनी जेब में रखे 1500 रुपए उनके हाथ में रखे और कहा कि अगली बस पकड़कर अपने गांव चले जाना... मुझे नहीं पता मैने सही किया या गलत... लेकिन उस वक्त इंसानियत के नाते जो सही लगा वो किया...
