A VPN changes your IP address & that’s it. It doesn’t magically erase your identity. Websites today don’t rely on just one signal. They correlate multiple layers of data: • Your browser fingerprint (screen size, fonts, device type, timezone) • Cookies and tracking scripts already stored in your browser • Your account activity (logins tied to past locations) • DNS leaks or WebRTC leaks exposing your real IP • Behavioral patterns (how you type, scroll, interact) • Mobile data like GPS (if permissions are granted) So even if your IP says “Germany,” your device might still scream “this guy is in Nigeria.” And then there’s the bigger truth people don’t like to hear: VPN ≠ anonymity. It’s privacy enhancement, not invisibility. Most VPN providers can log traffic. Many are owned by companies you’ve never heard of. Some cooperate with authorities when required. And if you’re logged into accounts like Google, Instagram, or X… you’ve already identified yourself anyway. The internet today runs on correlation. Not just “where are you connecting from?” But “does everything about you match where you claim to be?” And if it doesn’t… you get flagged. So yeah …. a VPN helps. It hides your IP from basic tracking and protects you on unsafe networks. But if you think it makes you anonymous? You are in for a rude awakening.

Interviewer: You use a VPN. Why do some websites still detect your real country?

A simple vulnerability in postmessage CTI, Been a while since my last bug bounty tip 😂 Not something new, but honestly I liked it Application is integrates with various integration including salesforce, Shopify etc... for example window.opener && window.opener.postMessage({ name: e, value: t }, "*"); window.parent && window.parent.postMessage({ name: e, value: t }, "*"); The app is also missing X-Frame-Options or can be embedded, and cookies are still sent in that context because of weak SameSite settings, an attacker can be able to iframe the page and directly receive users’ PII from those messages. Combined with missing X-Frame-Options and weak SameSite behavior, an attacker could iframe the page and receive the data directly by sending an link containing the exploit below to the user and get all PII or anything in the trusted postmessage. #bugbountytips #bugbounty #bugcrowd
