Why I believe crypto native investors will emerge as this generation’s highest-performing managers in any asset class they choose to pursue 👇 Crypto has historically moved in 4-year cycles. For anyone that’s been in crypto since 2013, that's 3 full bull / bear cycles, with 10x-100x moves up and 90%+ drawdowns. In traditional markets, that’s equivalent to 30+ yrs of experience. A 30-year-old crypto investor that has been doing this for a decade has roughly the same amount of market experience as a 50 yr+ year-old in "TradFi". Crypto volatility requires an incredibly steady hand and calm mindset. You quickly realize that if you don’t have mental steadiness, you’re done, so you either learn what it takes quickly, or get ejected. Again, highly compressed learning versus traditional markets when daily 1-2% moves don’t actually put you to the true mental test. BTC specifically is a macro asset. It requires an investor to understand larger macro events such as geopolitical risk, currency fluctuations, central bank actions, energy dynamics, and much more. Come for the Bitcoin, stay for the macro learnings. Memecoins are here to stay (for better or worse), and another source of education. Gamestop was not just a ZIRP phenomenon but part of the larger meme phenomenon. Memes combine narrative-driven investing (gambling), community, and connection. Memes will continue to trade. Traditional market investors would be wise to understand the power of memes and narrative. Crypto native traders already have a leg up here. DePIN (Ethereum, Livepeer, Dimo, Helium, etc) exposes the power of decentralized compute networks. I’d bet crypto native traders understand the economic principles of computing networks better than TradFi investors. If crypto investors were trading AI and compute stocks (maybe they are?) my guess is they’d outperform the vast majority of multi billion hedge funds. There are many more examples, but in sum, if I were backing the next generation of hedge fund managers, I’d look for folks that came up in and trained in crypto. They have 10x more experience at the same stage of career and age. The only problem is that the smartest young crypto investors will have done so well, they might not ever raise a fund or manage other people’s money.

The design flaw: minting coins (printing money) does not create value, it just dilutes the existing coin holders. Incentives doesn’t create value. It is just a bootstrap mechanism. Build products people use.
