Software hiring has become absurd. At work, you’re expected to use AI to offload manual coding and move faster. Then, to get your next contract, you’re asked to code from memory with no assistance. Pass the interview - and you’re expected to use AI again. It has never been this broken.

The only selling point of enlisting these days is that everyone gets discharged with a fabricated disability so you get like $8000/m from the taxpayers for the rest of your life once you’re out.

i know two separate veterans who receive full disability ($4,500/mon) because they claim mental health issues. both under 30. both never deployed. both told me they're "retired". both told me they're gaming the system. i know there are plenty of stories out there like this.

Why do rich brats tend to be socialists? I have began to notice a pattern: socialists and communists often tend to come from wealth. At least the kind of wealth where you at least your basics will be taken care of even if you don't work all your life. Whereas, anyone who has worked hard in life to get where they are today, tend to believe to some extent in free markets and open and fair systems. This seems a bit counter-intuitive but I think I am beginning to get it. A person who has never had to work for anything in life simply does not or rather is not capable of valuing work. To them, having to work is an inconvenience, something that gets in the way of "life". To them life happens after and outside of work and work is something you only have to do because the world is unfair. If you don't value work and see it as an inconvenience, competent people obviously become enemies. They see competence as "greed" or "being selfish". They see no meaning in work, so they cannot fathom that two people might be vastly different when it comes to ability. I don't necessarily think these are malicious people. They have lived in an universe where eveything has been handed out to them for free and now they can't understand why everyone can't just get free stuff as well.
