@AlanRMacLeod I feel like with this much obvious troll data (lots of points in the ocean) maybe whoever created the question should reword it or make it less annoying somehow before trying to pass this off as anything to take seriously

My eyes are very bad, I can't drive due to it. Taking Uber/cabs to work, I've noticed something. Over time, Uber will raise the price if they reason that you *must* go to a place. That you rely on them. From $9.50avg to $23avg within 6 months. I wrote a small program to - Create new uber account - Create new proxy credit card - Request ride to given destination from current Back down to $9.50 avg. Tech companies are so comically evil that it's transcended unfunny.

Supernatural will at least have a “skeleton crew” to keep the fitness app on life support As expected, they want internal teams to prioritize AI and Meta Horizon Worlds (more specifically the mobile version, not necessarily VR) Meta deleted Ready at Dawn (Lone Echo) in 2024

Meta is shutting down these internal game studios: • Supernatural (VR Fitness) • Sanzaru (Asgards Wrath) • Twisted Pixel (DeadPool) • Armature (RE4 VR) But Keeping: • Beat Games • BigBox • Camoflaj • Ouro • Glasswords
Brad Lynch@SadlyItsBradley

Hearing that Meta’s VR game development studios behind Resident Evil 4, Deadpool, Asgard’s Wrath were the ones most targeted in the recent wave of Reality Labs layoffs Even the words “All of Twisted Pixel (Deadpool) got let go” mentioned (If you have more to add, please DM me)

@worekarolis @Justidude @dtupper @SadlyItsBradley That's quite interesting. Just a few questions: Do you have a high end pc? Or have you been using PFD predominantly as a standalone VR system? Are you more interested in standalone or PCVR?

@zackmac63102618 @Justidude @dtupper @SadlyItsBradley As of PFD, it's a good package on paper. Hand and controller tracking isn't there yet, and somehow head tracking feels weird too. If I lean head to the side it feels like the view only rotates, but doesn't move enough to the side.

@Nick_Marseil A PC is not only about hardware, it's more about freedom to customize software or hardware. Consoles are locked.

@worekarolis @Justidude @dtupper @SadlyItsBradley For sure that's true, price is key here. But more than that, they prioritised standalone steam gaming over full PCVR. Fortunately today, micro-OLED does not limit FoV - both Pimax Dream Air and Bigscreen Beyond 2 have wide FoV. I hope they release a high res uOLED pro version.

@Justidude @dtupper @SadlyItsBradley Agreed. It's quite surreal to see 2160 x 2160 per eye LCD in Valve's PCVR successor to the Index, launching in 2026. That just can't be right.

@sabosugi Same reason an eGPU is slow. Would need to send camera data to compute unit over cable, and then send combined video back and power on same cable.

My guess is you would need a lot more cables than just one; there are too many input feeds (cameras + sensors). Also, input from the camera to the CPU/GPU wouldn't be direct anymore, compromising processing latency. I'm not sure it would be feasible to split the R1 from the M2/5: if that's possible, maybe the sensor processing can be done on the device, while the rest of the processing is outside.

@mundoxrbrasil I have it. Few things sux on it. My nose doesn't fit just by a millimeter :) and it basically doesn't have any content... Apart from PC VR and I can't make work over wire.

If you think about it — the Play for Dream costs $1,999, comes with controllers, has the same processor, and double the storage of the Galaxy XR… so the real difference here is the operating system, right? And that’s something they can definitely fix in the future. 😉
