@Maaikees Ha: I've just put a DoB on my account so I can pop in and do similar. First time I've been in, in months. Your tweet was 2nd in the awful "for you". Good coincidence! Also, unaccountably absent in my "following". I miss Twitter.

@Apple @AppleArcade So I'd like a game subscription service to * Warn us, in game, that we've got months * Let us transfer to a license * Help us keep our saves I'll not recommend AppleArcade to anyone wanting more than very casual play. Plenty of play is not casual at all.

@Apple And we're grownups, and we're fine, and it's OK. But not all @AppleArcade players are grownups, and not all are fine. For some, losing a game is not OK at all. Theres' a loss of achievement, of one's own story, of community. You'll never find out what happens next.

@TeresaP53190597 @naomicfisher I have letters from EIT and school with these positions clearly stated. School can’t accept my child currently, so staff can’t say directly — but classmates all know these consequences. This from a caring school with kind and skilled staff.

@naomicfisher They’re told they won’t be going on the school trip? Told their parents might go to prison? You REALLY need to stop spouting lies. This DOESNT HAPPEN.

When a child is feeling stressed and anxious, they usually show us this through their behaviour. They become disruptive, or unhappy, or they say they won’t go to school. Perhaps they start refusing to do things they were doing before – like turning up on time, or finishing their homework. What happens next is crucial. Because often what happens is that pressure is put on. They are put in detention, and if they are unlucky isolation. They might be put on report, or told that if they just try harder, they can get a certificate (and if they don’t, they’ll be excluded from the school trip). They’re told their parents might go to prison, or that they themselves are a disappointment, letting everyone down. It all adds more stress and anxiety. The child is already struggling, and the pressure makes things worse. The more pressured they feel, the worse they feel, and the worse their behaviour becomes. They become more unhappy, more disruptive, and disconnected from significant relationships in their life. This is the pressure paradox. When things are going wrong for a child, adults usually put on more pressure – but that pressure makes the child feel more stressed and anxious. This makes their behaviour worse, which leads to more pressure being put on – and we’re all stuck. It’s a trap. Everyone thinks they are trying to help, but the help isn’t helping. Each time things get worse for the child, the adults react with more intensity. It's surprising how things can sometimes turn around when the pressure is taken off. When the focus is instead on rebuilding relationships and identifying strengths. When someone takes the time to find out what’s going on for them, without an agenda. Just getting to know them and what matters in their life. For some children, pressure is toxic, and removing it gives them the opportunity to thrive. Some children need to know they can say No, before they have the space to say Yes. To find out more (and see more of @_MissingTheMark's fabulous illustrations) come to our webinar on Wednesday evening. The Art of Low Demand Parenting:Behaviour. Yes it's recorded. Please share if you know parents who might benefit. eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-art-of-l…

I post something whose first line is "A mashup of sources, for whittling later", because that's how I'm writing now. It gets featured. So do I whittle away, or cook supper for the kids? Supper wins. Making sense takes time and attention.
