Last week, our Artistic Director, Thomas Coté, traveled to The Playwright's Center in Minneapolis to continue working with Franky D. Gonzalez on his solo show, Heart Stop. We had the honor of presenting this very show last December. This time around, we’ve spotted some new faces!

In the spirit of our annual "Out of the Hat" Festival beginning November 28th, we randomly selected 6 artists to interview, and ask them some questions about who inspires them, where they see themselves in the future, and who their artistic hero's are.

This December, Franky D. Gonzalez returns to The Workshop Theater — not only as a playwright, but now as a performer. In his solo show, Heart Stop, Franky tells us of his personal journey as a theater artist, and his lifetime struggles with his weight.

What is the Workshop Intensive? The Workshop Intensive is a weekly writer’s group that runs for 8 weeks, with 4 writers, and 2 facilitators/dramaturges. Writers submit an unproduced play, along with a statement of rewrite goals, and are then selected by the artistic staff.
