Hell, I would love a report. I don’t have a damn thing to hide. But while some folks were obsessing over a report most Americans will never read or care about, Black voters in the South were staring down the possibility of losing voting power for generations. This may not be a priority for some people. But as a Black man from the South, this is about my existence. It’s about the environment in which I’m raising my sons. It’s about whether my children grow up in a state and a country that sees them as equal citizens whose voices matter. This is personal to me. This is about survival. We are months away from what I believe are the most important midterms of my lifetime. The Democratic Party cannot afford distractions, vanity projects, or circular firing squads while the fundamental rights and representation of Black Americans are under attack. History is watching all of us. Release the damn thing after the midterms but before the presidential elections, but in this moment we must FOCUS!

Oh, people are bitching because I said life was fair. It's because they disagree with my opinion. Because I said life (not death, not torture etc) was fair, I'm a non human whose family member's death is something to sneer over. Now I get it. I didn't even say I was against the death penalty. I'm not. Death for her would be fair too. But just the idea that I'm not slavering with righteous anger was enough to hurt me deeply. May God damn you all.

A judge today sentenced a Utah woman to life in prison without parole for murdering her husband by slipping fentanyl into a cocktail she made for him. Judge Richard Mrazik said a person convicted of Kouri Richins' crimes "is simply too dangerous to ever be free."

I have a litmus test for people who have said terrible things in their past: Have they apologized and said the previously-stated terrible views were terrible? Because if they have, then I’m inclined to judge them based on the views they are currently expressing.
