The @ongov expects people to do their own risk assessment and "live with the virus" yet:
-the CMOH is absent & provides no guidance
-minimal public data & no metrics to adjust plan
-non-discretionary activity is no safer than discretionary
-testing/early therapeutics hard to find

The number of #COVID ICU patients in Ontario has not only stopped decreasing, it's starting to rise.
Up by 7 day over day, an increase we haven't seen in many weeks.

The first casualties of the casual "personal responsibility" approach to #COVID19 are health professionals who have to work in place of colleagues who become infected due to loose policies in public places OUTSIDE of hospitals. It's already happening.

Tomorrow masks are optional in public schools.
Tonight I'm thinking of Thorncliffe Park, a community I serve, where ~14% of kids are fully vax'd.
Most kids won't get sick, but as W1-5 has shown, less privileged families living in multigen' homes, will again be more vulnerable.

What are the risks of unmasking Toronto schools? That depends on the school because neighbourhood differences are so wide: Leaside: 73% of kids fully vaxxed Thorncliffe Park: 14% of kids fully vaxxed My latest analysis in @thelocalhealth thelocal.to/school-tracker/

Every Wave those in lower income neighbourhoods have died at a higher rate vs. those in rich areas.
We have been told to perform a "risk assessment" as a way to reduce #COVID risk.
However, baseline risk has varied with income, which isn't something people can willfully modify.

Keep masks on in schools.
Waning 3rd shot immunity could soon become an issue for elderly.

Pre-pub study March 9 on school transmission of Delta for >1.2mm K-12 students/staff in 9 US states:
"Among districts with universal masking policies, secondary transmission was reduced by 72% compared with districts having optional masking policies."

If school boards aren’t the experts then clearly members of this group asking to review data 2 weeks post March Break, are.

Ideally, the healthcare system has capacity to urgently deliver delayed & deferred scheduled care before politicians set arbitrary dates for lifting #COVID restrictions which may imperil access to such care.

Our hospital is so full that much of our emergency department has been displaced to our tent (aka temporary field hospital). We have admitted patients in the tent also.
It’s v. busy. Prudent would be to allow us some breathing room before the “Best Spring Ever!”

The concerted effort to re-educate those of us who complete death certificates on a daily basis in the hopes we will reclassify #COVID deaths is confusing.
The form itself acknowledges that death is due to antecedent causes, of which there is often more than one.
