No, this isn’t a citizens arrest in the slightest. People take citizens arrest at face value and don’t know the parameters for executing a legal one. This is FAR from legal. At its base, it’s already entrapment. & Yes, they did detain him and physically search him in the very beginning. He was only told after that he could leave and still had to pull a fast one. The point is that, he’s going to walk on any charges that are brought because this was a botched & reckless sting. Should’ve gotten police involved from the jump rather than using a private security team and “sting house”. Only Chris Hanson (who works in tandem with police) and the police themselves use sting houses. If this were the case and you actually could conduct a citizens arrest like this, there would be massive amounts of vigilante groups all over the country operating as legitimate business but there’s not & that’s why we have real police - otherwise, why not let everybody just go around arresting everyone? I’m not advocating for the pedo, I’m advocating for proper procedure in order to get the pedo into prison - not just public humiliation.
