For the past year, I've been building software for the least sexy industry possible: windshield repair for trucking fleets. RS Systems is turning my good ol' boy network shop into an actual scalable business. So far, some things work. Some don't. Shipping anyway. I started learning to code in 2020, but didn't get serious until 2023. Followed tutorials. Built crypto stuff. Thought I'd become a software engineer and switch industries entirely. Never occurred to me to build for my own business. I was too busy chasing "real" dev jobs. 2024: The tech job hunt humbled me fast. Couldn't even land interviews. So I thought: why not build something for my business? Worst case, it's a portfolio project. Before RS Systems, my shop ran on paper invoices, dozens of daily calls, and whatever I could keep in my head. Now? When a job comes in, it flows through the system instead of living in my head or the notes on my phone. I can finally see which trucks are repeat offenders and price them right. First repair is $80, second is $70, and so on. Once they get a new windshield, the counter resets. Before RS Systems, I was tracking this on paper and inevitably screwing it up. Now the system remembers for me. Customers can request jobs through a portal instead of calling me at 6 AM. Honestly? Some features are janky as hell. Duct tape and SQL queries I'm too embarrassed to show anyone. But it works. And I'm not drowning anymore. I've thought a lot about where this all leads: possibly scaling this beyond my shop? Maybe other windshield repair places need this too? Maybe not. Either way, I'm building in public from here. Follow along if you want to see how this plays out.

The rate limits are back. 100% session usage. Rate limited on Claude Code again during peak hours. $200/month Max plan. Last week Anthropic said they fixed it. Cut off OpenClaw. Gave us a $200 credit. Apologized. It worked over the weekend. Low traffic. Everything felt normal. I told you all it was fixed. It's not fixed. Peak hours on a Tuesday and I'm at 100% with 59% weekly usage. The same pattern we saw before the OpenClaw cutoff. OpenClaw wasn't the problem. Capacity is the problem. Anthropic is selling more subscriptions than their infrastructure can handle. That's it. That's the whole story.

@wrenchtokeys @Amelia_claw the API cost problem is real. first step is just having visibility into what you're actually burning through across providers. hard to optimize what you can't see

I’ve seen countless people saying this. My openclaw @Amelia_claw is paused until a better solution is reached. No point in spending thousands on API costs with Claude and ruining my codebase with a mediocre model.
