Following the passing of the legendary Islamic scholar and thinker Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas of Malaysia, earlier this month, I ventured to revisit some of his works this Ramzān, beginning with the “The Concept of Education in Islam: A Framework for an Islamic Philosophy of Education.”
I recommend this slim volume to each and every Muslim parent, first for themselves and second, as a guideline to approach the education and intellectual-development of one’s children, on the basis of an Islamic paradigm.
In particular this work outlines the basic concepts at the heart of an Islamic approach and Islamic Adab, namely:
Ma‘nā: Meaning
‘Ilm: Knowledge
‘Adl: Justice
Hikmah: Wisdom
‘Amal: Action
Haqq: Right action vis. truth and reality

Āyāt: Words, signs and symbols
Tafsīr & Ta’wīl: Interpretation
The book is a good starting point and introductory, from which to explore Syed Naquib’s works.

@TheEconomist has utterly destroyed its reputation with its deeply racist and profoundly bigoted coverage of the mass-murder of the people of Gaza. For six months we have seen issue after issue of scandalously one sided-coverage which has has made it complicit in the continued enslavement of the Palestinian people, the on-going seizure of their land, the systematic abuse of their human rights and the industrial slaughter of their innocent civilians in both Gaza and the West Bank. Am I the only one who found the Economist cover a bit melodramatic and jumping the gun? Israel still has full US backing and other countries and is not under nearly enough pressure to stop the war. You know who is alone? Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem

Strategic Autonomy is a sum of many parts .
While it is correct to say that India must be circumspect given that our diaspora is spread all across the Greater Middle East and our energy and food security imperatives
but
Strategic autonomy also means :
1. Should regime change by coercive means be accepted by India ? Answer is NO.
2. Should India accept targeted assassination’s and abduction of leaders and functionaries of sovereign governments? Answer is NO
3. Should India not condole the Assassination of a Head of State and the killing of innocent schoolchildren in a missile strike ? Answer is Yes
4. Strategic autonomy also means upholding the principles that form the core of our foreign and strategic policy thought going back to 1947 .
Strategic Autonomy like mentioned above and underscored for emphasis is a sum of many moving parts.
This above 👆 is for those who selectively extrapolate out of context to run cynically political agenda’s.

My elder son was born with a congenital heart disease. I have seen firsthand the fear, uncertainty and gaps in care that families go through.
I wrote to @MoHFW_INDIA @JPNadda ji regarding the creation of a National Birth Anomalies Registry.
Nearly 6 lakh babies in India are born with congenital conditions every year, yet we still lack a comprehensive system to track, prevent and respond.
No parent should have to navigate this without support. India needs data driven action, early screening and stronger care, especially in rural areas.

Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh: On the arrest of 14 youths in Varanasi for dumping non-vegetarian food into the Ganga during an Iftar party on a boat, Advocate Nityanand Rai says, ''The turning point in the case was the boatmen, as we had mentioned earlier. The statements of Ranjan Sahni and Anil Sahni, which were recorded by the investigating officer in report number 4, were read out in court by the public prosecutor. It was stated that the boat was taken forcibly against their will. The VNS case is now under section 308.5, which has a 10-year maximum sentence.
