There was a 17-year-old boy who was currently on trial. He was accused of breaking into a house and stealing at night. However, the boy neither stole money nor any items. He had only taken a dog with him. The dog's condition was very poor; a wire was embedded in its neck, and its body was badly injured and tied with a cinder block. The owner accused the boy of theft, but the boy's lawyer argued that it was a rescue. (What are your thoughts on whether it was theft or a rescue? Please share in the comments.) The judge ordered that the dog be brought to the court. As soon as the dog passed by its owner and saw him, it became frightened and sat down on the ground, urinating in the process. When the dog approached the boy, it learned that he was sitting down and sat on his lap, resting its head on his shoulder. The entire court watching went silent, and then the judge didn't hear anything further.

Another thing to learn from the structure at Man City. When Txiki Begiristain, the same Sporting Director who worked with Pep Guardiola at Barcelona announced that he’d be leaving Man City, they didn’t go into panic mode. They found a new, young Sporting Directorship talent. Hugo Viana. Viana was at Sporting Lisbon, and had turned them to multiple time league champions. He was in a very good relationship with Ruben Amorim. They turned the club around. Sporting Lisbon lost their two biggest talents in about a year. Viana didn’t start immediately at City. He understudied Begiristain in 2025 January transfer window. Last summer, he finished the job he started with Begiristain. Guardiola would definitely have sounded out that he was leaving too. Begiristain’s exit very much suggested that. Changing his backroom staff too, perhaps. Then the fitness guy who left recently. That’s a shakeup. They were sure Maresca was next in line. I’m sure he’d have had an agreement for months and rejected other entreaties. He’d have had enough time to prepare his mind for his next job. In one year, Man City would have seen the exits of their experienced Sporting Director and manager, replaced with younger ones. It’s careful restructuring. Time will tell if the success of old will be sustained but they’ve gone about it very slowly and steadily.
Fabrizio Romano@FabrizioRomano

🚨🔵 BREAKING: Enzo Maresca has a total verbal agreement with Manchester City, HERE WE GO! The Italian manager has always been considered the ideal candidate to replace Pep Guardiola. Deal in place and Maresca will sign an initial three year deal at #MCFC. 🇮🇹 New era, soon.

Stan Kroenke is on a generational run right now. In the last five years, his teams have won the... • Super Bowl (LA Rams) • NBA Finals (Denver Nuggets) • Stanley Cup (Colorado Avalanche) • Premier League (Arsenal) He also owns SoFi Stadium, which has hosted the Super Bowl, the CFP National Championship Game, upcoming World Cup matches, and the 2028 Olympics opening/closing ceremony. Not to mention, Kroenke also recently became the largest private landowner in the United States, with 2.7 million acres. That's roughly the combined size of Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Philadelphia, and San Antonio.

Commentary on The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) deserves commendation for the sustained energy, boldness, and visible results it is bringing to the fight against corruption, financial crimes, and economic sabotage in Nigeria. I have been studying their outputs over the past 18months. It is my view that there is less interference in the work of the current EFCC when compared to the past. In fact it is my conclusion that only the Ribadu-Chaired first EFCC enjoyed this much operational independence politically speaking. The current leadership and the countless hardworking officers behind the scenes have shown remarkable courage in difficult circumstances. Recovering stolen assets, prosecuting complex financial crimes, tackling cybercrime, and sending a strong message that no one is above the law are not easy tasks in any society; especially in a nation as large and complicated as ours. Yes, like every major institution in Nigeria, there are legitimate concerns about some excesses by a few personnel. No agency in Nigeria will be completely free from bad eggs. Those issues must be addressed firmly, transparently, and consistently. But isolated misconduct should not erase the broader success story or diminish the sacrifices of the many diligent officers risking their lives and reputations daily in service to the nation. My Two important recommendation are: 1. The EFCC should begin publishing comprehensive quarterly performance reports detailing: • Number of cases investigated • Convictions secured • Assets recovered • Cases pending in court • Major operational breakthroughs • Challenges encountered 2. The EFCC Chairman should establish a citizen oversight Advisory Panel. This should be made up of 7 members (4 members of the public and 3 senior staff of the agency). This Panel should be chaired by a member of the public. Their role will be to act as independent advisory body to the chairman on major complaints (like the Uyo hospital incident); review of SoP, street-level feedback on policies and strategies. Major complaints can also be escalated to the panel to give independent advisory to the Chairman. This will help safeguard against the appearance that the agency is marking their own exams. It will strengthen credibility of decisions and engender public trust and cooperation. This will help Nigerians better appreciate the scale of work being done and strengthen public confidence through transparency and measurable accountability. In the same spirit, disciplinary measures taken against erring officers should also be made public where appropriate. This reassures citizens that professionalism, ethics, and accountability remain central to the agency’s operations. The truth is simple: the EFCC was never created to be popular. It was created to be effective. And Nigeria would undoubtedly be in a far worse state without the Commission and its anti-corruption efforts. Don’t get me wrong, EFCC is not perfect. I know of accusations of graft against some EFCC officials. I also know there would have been inevitable attempts to influence their work politically. But overall; EFCC has done exceptionally well under its current leadership. To the Chairman and dedicated staff of the EFCC; well done. The nation sees your efforts, and history will remember those who stood against corruption when it mattered most. It is my plea that we should not make the BEST to become the enemy of the GOOD. The agency is heading in the right direction.

Whalley has been appointed United’s new Head of Loans, stepping into the role after Jonny Evans left the position to join Michael Carrick’s first-team staff. Having worked closely with Jason Wilcox during their academy days at City, his move strengthens the growing City-to-Carrington pipeline under INEOS. And it’s not just familiarity he brings — Whalley played a key role in shaping successful loan spells for talents like James McAtee, Joe Hart, Pedro Porro, Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Patrick Roberts. Tom Heaton is nearly 40 years old. He has barely played for Manchester United in years. And they just gave him another contract. There is a very good reason for that. Most fans see a third choice goalkeeper collecting wages and wonder why- especially because they rarely play games. I hope you know that that UEFA Champions League squad registration rules require clubs to include a minimum number of association-trained and club-trained players on their list. A club-trained player is one who spent at least three years at the club between the ages of 15 and 21. Heaton came through United's academy and he returned in 2021 so he qualifies. In a squad registration that demands those spots be filled, a homegrown goalkeeper who costs relatively little and asks for nothing except professionalism is genuinely valuable. He is fulfilling a regulatory requirement that would otherwise need to be solved another way. Because he’s there, there is room for an extra foreigner in the squad. Now, all of that sounds nice. However, his off-pitch contribution to the team is invaluable. Casemiro described Heaton as indispensable. Not because of his saves but because of his presence. Elite squads need people who set the standard in training every single day without the reward of starting on Saturdays. People who mentor younger players, maintain the culture of the dressing room and absorb pressure without complaint. That is an incredibly rare quality and it has almost nothing to do with age or ability between the posts. Third choice goalkeepers at big clubs are also emergency insurance. If Senne Lammens and Altay Bayindir are both unavailable simultaneously United need someone who can step in without the club going into crisis. Heaton has done it before. He will do it again if needed. The contract extension is not sentiment. It is not loyalty for loyalty's sake. It is a club recognising that some of the most important players in a squad are the ones the cameras never focus on. My name is Ajoje. I am a FIFA Licensed Agent and International Sports Lawyer. In context, the premier league makes about €6.7billion and they pay a total of €2.83billion in revenue to clubs And yet we wonder why Southampton can afford a €40m transfer but Mallorca can barely afford a €4m player Things have to change in this league, it's slowly dying day by day despite it being the most successful league of all time Tebas has to go.

His own son conspired to kidnap him, twice. This story is more than a crime. It is a betrayal that is hard to imagine. Alhaji Rabo Jelani, an elderly man, was abducted. The kidnappers were not strangers, but a group that included his own son, Yusuf Rabo, and his grandson, Ali Haruna, who is accused of supplying one of the AK-47 rifles used. His own family targeted him for ransom because of his wealth and livestock. They collected ₦2,000,000 in the first abduction and ₦4,500,000 in the second. He was kidnapped twice by the very people who should have protected him. The Nigeria Police Force acted quickly. They arrested Yusuf Rabo and Musa Adamu, and recovered one AK-47 rifle. Ali Haruna, the grandson accused of supplying the weapon, is still at large. Police are actively searching for him. The group is also linked to the kidnapping of a trader named Mr. Iyke and an armed robbery along the Kagoma axis. Alhaji Rabo Jelani was betrayed by those closest to him. The Nigeria Police Force has stepped in where the family failed. Justice will be served.

NPF ARRESTS SON, ACCOMPLICE OVER KIDNAP OF FATHER, RECOVERS AK-47 RIFLE The Nigeria Police Force has recorded another operational breakthrough with the arrest of two suspects involved in a case of criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of firearms linked to a violent syndicate operating within Kaduna State and adjoining communities. The suspects in custody, Yusuf Rabo and Musa Adamu, were arrested following investigations into the abduction of Alhaji Rabo Jelani. Investigations revealed that Yusuf Rabo conspired with Musa Adamu and Ali Haruna, the victim’s grandson who is currently at large, to abduct the elderly victim for ransom over claims that he possessed substantial wealth and livestock. Further investigations established that the syndicate procured and deployed multiple AK-47 rifles for their operations, with Ali Haruna allegedly supplying one of the firearms belonging to his father, while additional weapons were sourced by other members of the gang. One AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine was recovered during the operation. Findings revealed that the victim was abducted on separate occasions and taken to forest locations where ransom negotiations were coordinated by Yusuf Rabo himself. The first abduction reportedly yielded a ransom payment of Two Million Naira (₦2,000,000), while a subsequent operation generated Four Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira (₦4,500,000). The syndicate has also been linked to other violent crimes within the area, including the kidnapping of a trader identified as Mr. Iyke and an armed robbery attack along the Kagoma axis during which commuters were dispossessed of cash and valuables. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect, Ali Haruna, and recover additional weapons and exhibits connected to the crimes. The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in dismantling kidnapping and armed robbery networks across the country and assures members of the public of sustained intelligence-led operations against violent criminal groups.
