During the field visit, Kanyange and Ganga Warehouses were identified as potential facilities for certification, marking a significant step towards expanding a national network of certified warehouses and enhancing market access for farmers and other value chain actors.

The Council held an introductory engagement meeting with @agri_bora as part of ongoing efforts to promote investment and strengthen the Warehouse Receipt System ecosystem within the pulses value chain in Tharaka Nithi County.

Deputy President Prof. @_KithureKindiki today graced the 3rd Annual Regulatory Authorities and Agencies Conference at South Eastern Kenya University, Kwa Vonza, Kitui County, as Chief Guest. The Conference brought together regulators from across Government to strengthen coordination and align regulatory action with the public interest. Discussions focused on the need for regulatory institutions to remain firm and fair, demonstrate measurable impact beyond procedural compliance, and anchor their actions on accountability, transparency and tangible outcomes for wananchi. In his keynote address, the Deputy President observed that Regulatory Authorities and Agencies represent the most visible expression of Government in the daily lives of citizens. He called on institutions to move beyond process-driven regulation and focus on service delivery that citizens can experience directly. In my foundational remarks, I acknowledged the progress realised across the regulatory landscape over the past three years. Institutions have strengthened governance frameworks, enhanced coordination, clarified mandates and deepened performance orientation. I called for greater decisiveness in execution and urged regulators to accelerate the shift from procedural activity to substantive outcomes anchored on citizen experience and socio-economic impact. Day One of the Conference focused on the measurement and evaluation of regulatory impact and examined the constitutional foundations underpinning regulatory mandates. Regulators also shared practical implementation experiences, reinforcing the importance of coordinated action and evidence-based outcomes that citizens can see and experience directly.

Next steps: rollout of cashew standards, farmer sensitization, warehouse certification, and strengthening the Central Registry to connect farmers to global markets.

Ag. CEO Lucy Komen highlighted WRS as a catalyst for credit access, improved price discovery, and reduced post-harvest losses. Aligned with the #BETAAgenda, WRSC remains committed to scalable, market-driven solutions.

Following the National Cashew Conference 2026 under the theme “Revive & Thrive Unleashing Kenya’s Cashew Potential,” WRSC is advancing an action-driven agenda to operationalize WRS in the cashew value chain, unlocking structured markets and expanding farmers’ access to financing.

The engagements focused on accelerating adoption of the Warehouse Receipt System (WRS) to strengthen quality management, expand structured market linkages, and unlock commodity-backed financing, ultimately enhancing farmer incomes and building greater market resilience.

Following successful engagements in Kisii, Kericho, and Bungoma, the Council, led by Ag. CEO Lucy Komen, has concluded coffee stakeholder engagements in Baringo County at Baringo Cha Coffee Mill, engaging cooperative and estate stakeholders representing over 7,000 farmers.

The Council highlighted the potential of the WRS and the role of engineering in unlocking value across agricultural value chains. Focus areas included infrastructure development, value addition, automation, and renewable energy integration to enhance efficiency and sustainability

The Council is proud to participate in the 7th Engineering Partnerships Convention, under the theme “Harnessing the Blue Economy for Sustainable Development.” Represented by Leonard Mwashuma during Plenary Session 4: “From Resource to Sustainable Value Chains,”

WRS is gaining recognition as a key enabler, unlocking market access, affordable financing, and quality-assured storage for coffee stakeholders.

In collaboration with the @BungomaCountyKe,WRSC continued strategic engagements with cooperative leaders from Sirisia & Kabuchai, and engaged the Bungoma Coffee Union Board Members on onboarding WRS. Strong support is evident for structured agricultural commodity trade.

Our message is clear: WRS quarantees quality-assured storage, access to structured local & global markets, and access to affordable, secure commodity-backed financing. Momentum is building. Counties are stepping up, backing WRS as a driver of transparency, and farmer value.

We’re accelerating adoption of the Warehouse Receipt System (WRS) across Kenya’s coffee sector-engaging cooperatives, unions, and value chain actors. This week: Gusii Farmers’ Cooperative Union (Kisii) & Kipkellion District Co-operative Union (Kericho).

WRSC, led by Ag. CEO Lucy Komen, engaged Bureau Veritas to explore collaboration on inspections, quality assurance, storage monitoring, and capacity building. Anchored on standards and risk management, this partnership will strengthen WRS integrity and align with global practices

From dialogue to coordinated action. Scale WRS uptake. Certify warehouses. Enforce commodity standards. Deepen partnerships with ecosystem players like EAGC. Stronger systems today equal better prices, lower losses, and competitive markets tomorrow.

Breaking silos to unlock agricultural value. In Nakuru, the WRS Council engaged APAK on the pillars that matter; aggregation, financing, price discovery, and market access. The focus: building a transparent commodity trading system and scaling certified storage nationwide.

In collaboration with the Cereal Growers Association, the Council is driving sensitization, engaging cooperatives, and undertaking warehouse pre-inspections ahead of certification, focused on onboarding stakeholders before the cereals and pulses harvest season.
