I’d break my legs (again) if it meant the Padres won a World Series

@TooMuchMortons_ Huge learning curve for Stammen. Not saying he’s in over his head but did we realistically think it was going to be smooth sailing from day one? But yeah I agree, you have an elite bullpen that can be mixed and matched for any scenario, use it that way

Even then I don’t love the idea that Miller HAS to close out a game. Yesterday was a perfect example of giving up a lead and you don’t even get to use Miller. The Morejon fireman role is more important but sometimes he’s going to be used early or just flat out unavailable. What if it’s the 8th, Morejon was used already, and the dodgers top of the order is due up? I don’t mind Adam but much rather have Miller in there. Or what if it’s the 7th and two runners get on. That’s the time to warm up mister strikeout machine. The game could be lost right there. I much rather have a lesser reliever get a clean 9th inning. Personally I would use Bradgley in the closer role. That’s asking a lot of a young player and unlikely with the seniority BS so a more realistic option would be Adam. There’s also politics about Miller getting saves because it’ll affect his arbitration money but man if you trade a Leo level prospect you gotta optimize Miller’s usage to win games.

Mason Miller was not available for four outs tonight, Craig Stammen said. That decision was made pregame. "It will be an option at some point in the season," he said. "Just not in Game 2."
