We also shouldn't ignore the lead up to the throw in either. Morato plays a lovely pass in to the feet of McAtee who turns well, carries, and gives to Gibbs-White. Important contributions from #NFFC players who have been under scrutiny this season.

Breaking down #NFFC's 3rd goal v #CFC 📹 - Go backwards & sideways to draw out defence - Anderson dictating movement of Bakwa - Gibbs-White doesn't admire his own pass, runs off Moises Caicedo & Enzo Fernandez - Anderson's quality pass through the gap

Thoughts on #NFFC today. A very brave team selection from Vitor Pereira, who not for the first time will feel very vindicated. The feel around the club is just completely different to in the early stages of the year - Pereira has created an atmosphere where everybody feels important and involved, and the players today have repaid him with a fabulous victory that pretty much makes Forest safe. Chelsea are obviously struggling right now - but they have some very talented players. A back 4 that only had 14 Premier League starts this season (10 being Morato's), kept Chelsea very quiet, with Sels only needing to make 1 save before the penalty. Abbott was unfortunate to give away a penalty for his clash with Jesse Derry, but it was probably the right call as he was just second best to the ball. My understanding is that this being a concussion sub will rule Abbott out of selection on Thursday night. For Gibbs-White, it was not a concussion sub (you are only allowed 1), therefore if the club deem him fit enough then he will be available. Pereira post match has suggested the same. Huge credit to Luca Netz who has had to wait a long time for his first start - not many tougher 1 v 1 assignments than Cole Palmer, but he dealt with him pretty well - he's one of many today that showed the hard work they've been putting in behind the scenes to allow them to play 90 minutes at a high level despite a lack of first team action. Which leads me on to McAtee. He was quietly effective today I felt, but another who has been short on game time but was able to play the full game - only feeling signs of cramp in injury time as he made what I felt was his first mistake of the game. It's always a delight to see Taiwo Awoniyi come in and score, he did it twice today, one with a lovely header and the other after a good run and a tap-in after brilliant play from Anderson & Gibbs-White. It's a shame for him and Luca Netz that they won't be involved on Thursday. Both Pereira & Emery took risks in their selection - Emery's didn't come off but Pereira's certainly did. If I think of the midfield battle on Thursday, if Onana isn't fit then Tielemans & Bogarde played significant minutes on Thursday, compared to just 45 for Forest's likely starters. The biggest question mark is on Aina's fitness, and with Abbott now unavailable, we'll either be seeing Jair Cunha at RB, or a switch to a back 5. I think Pereira would like to stick with the back 4 though, but for now we can enjoy today and look forward to a huge game on Thursday!

Omari Hutchinson action map for #NFFC v #CFC Little time for him to impact the game, his first carry into the box showed his physical weakness when Cucurella muscled him off the ball. He'll be feeling fit and ready for the biggest game of his career on Thursday night, and with that performance from Bakwa he'll likely feel a bit of pressure to perform too.

Chris Wood action map for #NFFC v #CFC Was ready to come on before Gibbs-White's injury, likely for Awoniyi. So the sub meant he played a little deeper than normal, and he didn't really see much of the ball during his time on the pitch.

Morgan Gibbs-White action map for #NFFC v #CFC His first action was a bad touch in the box from a nice McAtee pass, but soon afterwards he'd make a great run and lovely cross for Awoniyi who couldn't miss. Forest will obviously hope his head injury isn't serious - it wasn't a concussion substitute so my understanding is that Forest will not be bound by concussion protocols, therefore he could be available for Thursday if the club deem him fit enough.

Elliot Anderson action map for #NFFC v #CFC His pass that released Gibbs-White for Forest's 3rd goal was perhaps the best of the game. A good 45 minutes for him to keep him ticking over ahead of Thursday.

Nikola Milenkovic action map for #NFFC v #CFC Delap got the better of him in his first duel, but after that nobody else did. A nice performance from the Serbian, who couldn't really do anything about Chelsea's wonderful late goal.

Neco Williams action map for #NFFC v #CFC Probably wouldn't have played today considering the lineup, but was thrown into the game due to Abbott's concussion. He performed well on the right, with some important clearances and tackles in his own box.

Taiwo Awoniyi action map for #NFFC v #CFC He loves a trip to London doesn't he - a brilliant performance leading the line and credit to his fitness levels for making it through the full game. 2 goals and the foul to win the penalty too. A shame for him not to be involved on Thursday night, but under Pereira he's really shown that he may still be an option for the club next season - brilliant work from him.

Igor Jesus action map for #NFFC v #CFC Some of his link-up play in that first half was very good, he also dropped deep to help defensively too. Delighted for him to score a goal to celebrate the birth of his baby - couldn't have been easy for him not to be there, his commitment to the club was rewarded today. His half-time substitution was likely with a start on Thursday night in mind.

James McAtee action map for #NFFC v #CFC A quiet but effective afternoon for McAtee on his unfavoured left - it looked like the aim was for him to try and replicate Gibbs-White's role from the last few weeks. I don't remember him doing anything wrong until he lost the ball late on and went down with cramp. McAtee wasn't afraid to contribute defensively today, and his work for the first goal was very important.

Dilane Bakwa action map for #NFFC v #CFC Easily his best appearance in a Forest shirt - quick feet led to the assist for the first goal, and also again the cross that led to the penalty. He really helped out Abbott & Williams defensively too today. A great time for him to have such a big impact, ahead of a game on Thursday when Forest might well need some attacking impetus off the bench.

Nico Dominguez action map for #NFFC v #CFC A solid first half from the Argentinian, who's substitution suggests to me that there's still question marks over Sangare's availability for Thursday night. Dominguez completed all 23 of his attempted passes today.

Luca Netz action map for #NFFC v #CFC A brilliant first Premier League start for the German. No player attempted more than his 6 tackles. He dealt with Cole Palmer pretty well, and continued to make some very important defensive interventions throughout the second half as his legs were definitely feeling very heavy.

Morato action map for #NFFC v #CFC Two solid performances on the bounce from Morato, made some very key clearances today. Was the recipient of a soft yellow card. He made some really good passes today as well, and most importantly the ones that didn't make their destination didn't cause Forest issues in transition.

Jair Cunha action map for #NFFC v #CFC Seems it was always the plan to give him a half today. Thought he was playing really well but struggled in the closing 10 minutes of the first half where he looked a little shaky. What I like about him though is it seems he can put his little errors and mistakes to the back of his mind and not let it affect his game immediately afterward - a great trait in a young centre back.

Zach Abbott action map for #NFFC v #CFC Unlucky to give away a penalty for challenging for a header, but probably the right call as it looked like he was just beaten to the ball by Derry, who came off much worse in the collision. Until then, Abbott was doing alright, I thought he was a little tentative when on the back foot defending, but on the whole defended well. Unfortunately for him that concussion sub means he will almost definitely be unavailable for Thursday's second leg.
