What should stay on the internet? Internet platforms remove content that violates their terms as a matter of course. These decisions are getting increasing scrutiny. I am interested in understanding and cataloguing as diverse a set of perspectives as I can find about this. 1/

@steveglista @ShibaniMahtani @drewharwell All three lenses, not just "where", seem necessary to apply here. The current process for choosing seems to be: Wix decides. Then, like here, sometimes civil society successfully pressures a reversal. It's not the worst possible process, but it might not be the best either.

To be clear: the Hong Kong police requested a foreign company to take down a website, involving people *outside of Hong Kong* and they complied. When they said the NSL applies to anyone, everywhere, it was hard to imagine global companies complying — but here they are.

Hong Kong Police requested the Israeli company @Wix to disable our website, otherwise prosecuting the company. Wix complied. It shows that our freedom of speech is not protected even we are not in Hong Kong and China. Here is our statement.
