A brief observation about Afrikaners resettling in the United States, written primarily for Americans to better understand the character of the people arriving in your country.🇺🇸🇿🇦 Many of us who have already made the move (years ago) are part of large, informal networks assisting new arrivals as they settle. We are often in a position to contribute meaningfully, offering carloads of supplies, helping connect people with employment, and, at times, even providing transportation or vehicles. While resettlement agencies do provide essential basics, there are moments when urgent needs arise, especially for families with young children, where delays due to administrative processes can leave gaps. On several occasions, I’ve reached out to families and said, “I have what you need, and I can bring it to you today.” More often than not, the response is that they will first try to obtain it themselves. This isn’t driven by pride, but by a deeply rooted sense of resourcefulness and independence. Afrikaners, by and large, are people who prefer to stand on their own feet and help themselves wherever possible. Of course, no group is without exception, but I am speaking about the overwhelming majority. Afrikaners are eager to become self-sufficient. They seek employment quickly, secure housing, and work diligently to build stability without relying heavily on assistance. There is a strong work ethic and a desire to contribute positively. In my experience, these are individuals who don’t come to take, they come to build, to work, and to add value. That, I believe, is an asset to the United States.

Whether you like it or not, the laws are racial and discriminatory. You can dress it up, rename it, spin it however you want… it’s still race based at its core 🤷‍♀️ And before the usual “history!!!” comments roll in, yes, we all know why they were introduced. No one is saying forget the past. The whole point of ending apartheid was to move away from race based systems… not rebrand them and call it progress. Be serious 😅 The reality is the outcome has been a mess. Instead of building unity, this government has leaned into division. That’s not what Mandela stood for, and it’s definitely not what this country needed. There are ways to uplift people without turning everything into a racial checkbox. What we’ve had for 30+ years hasn’t fixed poverty, hasn’t fixed education, hasn’t created real opportunity… but it has kept people dependent on the state. Funny how that works hey. 👀 At some point you have to ask youself, why? People are tired. Everyone is struggling. But instead of fixing real issues, we’re constantly shoved into racial boxes while the people in power keep benefiting. It’s giving distraction tactics. 🤡 And the hypocrisy? Wild. White people are racist if they stay, racist if they leave… so what exactly must they do? Teleport? 😭 You can’t expect people to stay in a system they feel is working against them and then shame them for wanting out. That’s not equality, that’s control. At the end of the day, this isn’t about hating anyone. It’s about calling out a system that clearly isn’t working, is dividing people more than ever, and pretending it’s progress when it’s not. Something has to give eventually 🤷‍♀️

The ones that are leaving now, is the ones that believed in the new South Africa, they willingly given up their jobs to open spaces for BEE, Then started businesses and employed people, government came and said if employ over 50 you must give up 30% of ownership. Some did and lost that business as well . Now they are leave and never creating those opertunities again
