Charleston, W.V. – On this Tax Day, the West Virginia Republican Party is celebrating historic tax relief delivered by Republicans at both the federal and state levels, which is putting more money back into the pockets of hardworking West Virginians.
Chairman Josh Holstein said, “Thanks to the leadership of Donald J. Trump and Republicans in Congress, as well as our Republican leaders here at home, West Virginia families are keeping more of what they earn and are seeing real relief this tax season.”
At the federal level, Republicans’ Working Families Tax Cuts (One Big Beautiful Bill) are already delivering results. Millions of Americans are benefiting from provisions that eliminate taxes on tips and overtime, increase the standard deduction and child tax credit, and allow a deduction for interest on American-made auto loans, as well as eliminating taxes on Social Security. These policies directly impact our working-class families from coal miners to service industry employees to our seniors.
Early data shows average tax refunds exceeding $3,400, with many filers seeing increases of more than 10% compared to last year. More than 53 million workers have already taken advantage of these landmark reforms, while small businesses are seeing meaningful tax reductions that allow them to invest, grow, and create jobs:
• Over 25 million taxpayers have claimed the No Tax on Overtime provisions
• Over 6 million taxpayers have benefited from No Tax on Tips.
• Over 27 million taxpayers have claimed the No Tax on Social Security.
• Nearly half of all filers so far have claimed at least one of the law’s landmark new tax cuts.
• 12 million small business owners are seeing an average tax reduction of nearly $7,000.
• The Working Families Tax Cuts will give children born between 2025–2028 who are U.S. citizens eligibility for a $1,000 government contribution into a Trump Account.
Here in West Virginia, Republican leadership has built on that momentum with bold, commonsense tax reforms. In recent years, West Virginia Republicans have eliminated taxes on Social Security income, delivered a 100% rebate on motor vehicle property taxes, reduced property taxes for disabled veterans, and cut the personal income tax by nearly a third.
The combined impact of these federal and state reforms is clear and are leading to bigger refunds, stronger economic growth, and renewed optimism for working families in West Virginia.
“As we look ahead, Republicans remain committed to cutting taxes further, growing our economy, and ensuring that West Virginia remains one of the best places in the country to live, work, and raise a family,”
said Chairman Josh Holstein.
