#BREAKING: Self-confessed white supremacist Thomas Sewell has been granted bail over 21 charges including violent disorder and affray, following an alleged attack at a First Nations site in Melbourne’s CBD in August. The 32-year-old raised his right hand to photographers, appearing to give a Nazi-style salute, as he was brought into Melbourne’s Supreme Court from a prison van on Wednesday morning. He was originally denied bail in the Magistrates' Court and took his battle for freedom to the Supreme Court, where prosecutors argued he posed a risk of further violent offending. But his lawyer said it was unfair given his 14 co-accused were already on bail, and the judge agreed Sewell did not pose an unacceptable risk, ordering him to pay a $20,000 surety.
