@ThrimbyFarms They are bastards. Can you add garlic to their feed or does it taint the flavour of the meat? I know too much in a dairy cows diet will affect milk.

Had a weigh session among some of the heifers. We pull them out of the cubicles once they get to around 560kg and move them on to straw. Quite disappointed with today’s gains. This group just averaging 1.2kg. Putting some of it down to the influx of starlings this last month.

@Wyefarm I've seen people actively encouraged who end up stuck in a rut of "that's how it's always been done" moulded by their parents.. On the flip side some of the best farmers I know were discouraged but have returned to the farm with a fresh view on life, the farm and the wider world!

Thinking of selling late calving cows and replacing with empty spring cows to tighten the block,bought cows from him before and really pleased with how they do,would anyone calve them down and sell fresh or sell stale or dry?
