Braden Pierce actually averaged less minutes per game this season than last season at Maryland. Even when the Wildcats lost Matt Hodge, Pierce’s minutes were not really increased. Not surprising to see him search for a new spot to perhaps play more.

In the span of five hours, Villanova (@NovaMBB) has lost two of its starting guards to the transfer portal. Tough Sunday for the Wildcats.

BREAKING: Villanova’s (@NovaMBB) Bryce Lindsay will enter the transfer portal, per Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress. Lindsay averaged 12.3 points per game last season. After playing well in non-conference play, Lindsay struggled for most of conference play. He’s a tremendous shooter.
Jonathan Givony@DraftExpress

NEWS: Villanova's Bryce Lindsay intends to enter the transfer portal, Richie Beda of WME Basketball tells DraftExpress. The 6'3 sophomore averaged 12.3 points in 29 minutes per game in the Big East, shooting 36% from 3.

Besides Zion Stanford, who was not with the team for the last few weeks of the season, Acaden Lewis was the first Villanova player to enter the transfer portal. The transfer portal officially opens on Tuesday, and more Villanova players could join him, specifically in the next 48 hours.

I think Jeff is pretty spot on here. Villanova knew retaining Lewis would take a lot of money in the offseason, and both sides could not come to an agreement. Perhaps Lewis returns to Villanova and withdraws his name from the draft and portal, but I would imagine he’s playing with a new team next season either in the NBA or college.
Jeff Neiburg@Jeff_Neiburg

Why? The only answer in the modern college basketball world: A financial agreement could not be reached. The portal officially opens Tuesday.

I definitely thought today’s news about Acaden Lewis was surprising. Just want to be clear that this is all my personal opinion rather than direct knowledge from behind the scenes about the situation. I expected Lewis to stay in college for one more season, maybe with Villanova or another program, and then enter for the draft. The potential is obviously sky high for Lewis, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s testing the waters in the NBA Draft and returns to college for another season next year. With his name in the transfer portal, if he returns, it probably won’t be with Villanova. I’ll discuss more on Villanova Sports Talk on Thursday at 11 AM on WXVU.

Villanova (@novawbb) finished the season as the only team to lead UConn at halftime in a game this season. I think that highlights how incredible UConn was this entire season, and it also shows how well South Carolina played in the second half last night to shock the Huskies.

Zion Stanford played 10 games in his Villanova career, while averaging 5.1 minutes per game. He averaged only 1.3 points per game as a Wildcat. Stanford battled an ankle injury in the first month of the season and never became part of Kevin Willard’s regular bench rotation.
