@x149te @SrcFreak @FerrisWheelPro Did the past metroid matter? Not really. Xenoblade doesn't move systems either. Kirby? Not a system seller, I could go on with all Nintendo IPs that aren't the big 3.
The Pokémon branding, manufactured fomo around Pokémon and the announcement of gen 10 are what sold the hardware.

@FerrisWheelPro Pokopia isn't even that special just a farming game with Pokemons. It's mainly Nintendo and Pokemon fanboys buying the switch 2 it won't out sell the switch 1 I give it a year and a half to two before sales really start to slow down. The switch 2 barely has any exclusives.
