Happy anniversary to Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition! Xenoblade X was already one of my favorite games of all time, and Definitive Edition took what was already great and made it even better. Not everyone’s cup of tea but it checks so many of my boxes :)

@clearfails I truly believe the Switch 2 is capable of running Wii U games at 60 fps with native 1440, but it all depends on budget and what the devs are willing to put into it.

It’s funny how people are trying to use the same excuse “you only see it when you’re looking for it!” It’s still objectively worse. Even if your eyesight is terrible enough to not be able to see it, this is a PAID upgrade that makes your game look worse. You deserve better.

@clearfails 60 fps is cool. Still shouldn’t look like this. It should be 60 fps and also look better. 60 fps and a better resolution don’t need to be mutually exclusive, they can both be offered in this paid upgrade.

@ActionJaxonH What’s the exaggeration? The paid upgrade makes the game look worse in handheld. The picture shows a 1:1 comparison between the Switch 2 Edition in handheld and Switch 1 version with Boost Mode on Switch 2 in handheld. This is exactly what the game looks like in both instances.

@SausageOfFate Very noticeable in 4k for me, but no way I’m going back to 30 fps. It’s soooo nice and I can’t wait to see the other games get the bump

@x3phia It's a real shame that they went with this strange upscaling solution. That said, I don't wanna go back to 30fps, and the smeariness is way less noticeable docked on a 1080p screen anyway, which is how I mostly play.

I paid $5 to make my game look worse

@x3phia The Switch 2's performance is being overestimated online. It's ultimately still a tablet. 4K 60fps is pretty much reserved for a small handful of 7th gen-fidelity games or older.

@x3phia That's not representative of how the game looks. That's zoomed WAY in from the background. You know this if you've played the game. Here's actual screenshots. Yes the filter can make things blurry or shimmer in spots, but that's not how characters look up close.

@x3phia I'm not trying to defend this upgrade nor will I say it looks good for those who have issues with it. Totally reasonable criticism. The only thing I do like is the 60fps. I was always having my timing thrown off at 30fps, but I do hope boost mode makes S1 edition feel better

@SlashBryz It’s decent. Wish it ran at a natively higher resolution since the Switch 2 is more than capable. I’m just not a fan of their implementation of pixel smoothing.

@fugliestgamer Boost Mode is only for Switch 1 games running on Switch 2. Since Switch 2 Editions of Switch 1 games still count as Switch 2 games, Boost Mode isn’t offered.

@x3phia What about Switch 2 edition on boost mode? Would it be 60 fps with the better visual fidelity?

@Strange_1907 Looks decent, harder to notice the horrible pixel smoothing. Doesn’t run at a higher resolution than the regular game, just uses techniques to make it appear sharper. Handheld is the worst

@LewdlingDuke The game is more than capable of running well on Switch 2 as demonstrated by Boost Mode, which literally forces the game to run in docked mode while playing handheld. It’s the laziness of the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition that’s at fault here.

@x3phia They should just release the game on steam, I'm sure Steamdeck would handle it no problem and humble them at that point.
